The San Diego Toreros and the San Francisco Dons meet Saturday in college basketball action from War Memorial Gym. San Diego is 7-6 on the year so far. The Toreros lost to UNLV in their last game. As for San Francisco, they’re 13-2 and lost to Loyola in their last outing. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

San Diego won three of their first four games this year, then hit a 1-4 stretch that featured only a win over UIC. After three straight wins over Cal Poly, Cal Lutheran and Northern Arizona the Toreros lost again to UNLV.

In the UNLV matchup back on December 22, the Toreros were outscored 42-24 in the first half. Things didn’t get any better from there in an 80-57 blowout loss. Terrell Brown was the team’s top scorer with 16 points and eight boards.

Over on the Dons’ side, they opened up the year with 10 straight victories stretching from November 9 to December 8. San Francisco took a loss to Grand Canyon, then won three more games before a Thursday loss to Loyola.

Matched up against Loyola, the Dons nursed a 39-38 lead at halftime. San Francisco was outscored 41-35 the rest of the way on a tough 79-74 loss. Yauhen Massalski led the team with his 20 points, five rebounds and three assists.

The Dons are 10-28-2 ATS in their last 40 Saturday games and 9-23 ATS in their last 32 overall. San Francisco is 2-7 ATS in their last nine as a favorite.

Meanwhile, the Toreros are 2-5 ATS in their last seven Saturday games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games. The under is 6-2 in San Diego’s last eight overall.

PICK: I’m going to stick with San Francisco here. The Dons fought hard against a good Loyola team in their last game but ultimately couldn’t keep the pace. San Francisco had been in a three-game scoring funk with 66 or fewer in each outing, but over the last two games they’ve scored a combined 185 points.

As for San Diego, we haven’t seen them on the court since way back on December 22 so the team could be rusty initially. That’ll make for a good opportunity for San Francisco to get off to a fast start en route to a cover.
