The Rider Broncs will travel to McCann Arena to take on the Marist Red Foxes this Sunday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The Rider Broncs snapped their 4-game losing streak and improved to 4-8 on the season after defeating the Gwynedd-Mercy College Griffins, 82-57, on December 20th. Rider led by a 40-27 margin at halftime and had no trouble pulling away for the victory after taking a 60-38 lead with 12:07 left in regulation. Rider shot 46.7% from the field & 41.9% from beyond the arc while holding Gwynedd-Mercy College to just 38.8% shooting from the field & 28.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Broncs was Allen Powell who had 22 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, & 1 steal.

On the season, Rider is averaging 66.2 ppg on 37.8% shooting from the field. The Broncs are averaging 5.8 three-pointers per game on 28.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Rider has been led by Dimencio Vaughn (13.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.3 spg), Dwight Murray Jr. (12.6 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 3.3 apg, 1.3 spg), Allen Powell (8.9 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 2.0 apg), & Marvin James (8.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.0 spg).

Defensively, Rider is allowing their opponents to average 71.5 ppg on 41.3% shooting from the field. The Broncs have a rebound margin of -2.4 and a turnover margin of 2.4.

The Marist Red Foxes improved to 7-6 on the season after defeating the Fairfield Stags, 60-51, this past Friday. Marist was lights out on the defensive end against Fairfield and pulled away after a 19-2 run gave Marist a 56-37 lead with 5:47 left in regulation. Marist shot 41.7% from the field & 31.8% from beyond the arc while holding Fairfield to just 28.3% shooting from the field & 19.4% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Red Foxes was Ricardo Wright who had a double-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds, & 2 assists.

On the season, Marist is averaging 68.2 ppg on 41.1% shooting from the field. The Red Foxes are averaging 7.7 three-pointers per game on 33.9% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Marist has been led by Ricardo Wright (14.2 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.2 apg), Jao Ituka (13.1 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 1.1 apg), Samkelo Cele (10.1 ppg, 3.8 rpg), & Raheim Sullivan (9.6 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.4 spg).

Defensively, Marist is holding their opponents to an average of 68.2 ppg on 41.1% shooting from the field. The Red Foxes have a rebound margin of -0.1 and a turnover margin of -0.4.

The Broncs are 2-10 ATS in their last 12 games, however, are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 road games at Marist. The Red Foxes are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games.

Rider has struggled on both ends of the court this season as the Broncs come into this game ranked just 292nd in scoring offense, 343rd in FG%, & 246th in scoring defense. Marist has been led by their defense which ranks 178th in scoring defense & 109th in defensive FG%, however, the Red Foxes have struggled a bit putting points up on the board and currently rank just 211th in scoring offense.

Rider has had some success in recent years against Marist, however, Rider has really struggled as of late and has already lost at home to the Red Foxes by a 79-67 margin in early December. Marist has looked solid this season, which included a near upset at Iona last week, and as I think the Red Foxes once again give the Rider trouble defensively, I’m taking Marist to cover this large home spread. Good Luck!
