The Siena Saints will travel to McCann Arena to take on the Marist Red Foxes this Friday night in College Basketball action.

The Siena Saints won their 3rd straight game and improved to 5-6 on the season after defeating the Fairfield Stags, 69-62, this past Sunday. Siena was solid defensively against Fairfield and was able to pull away late in the 2nd half after taking a 57-49 lead with 3:19 left in regulation. Siena shot 40.7% from the field & 33.3% from beyond the arc while holding Fairfield to just 34.8% shooting from the field & 16.7% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Saints was Nick Hopkins who had 19 points, 8 rebounds, & 2 steals.

On the season, Siena is averaging 64.8 ppg on 42.5% shooting from the field. The Saints are averaging 7.6 three-pointers per game on 36.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Siena has been led by Colby Rogers (13.5 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 1.6 apg), Jackson Stormo (11.0 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.1 bpg), Aidan Carpenter (10.1 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.0 spg), & Anthony Gaines (8.7 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.4 apg).

Defensively, Siena is allowing their opponents to average 70.9 ppg on 44.9% shooting from the field. The Saints have a rebound margin of -1.0 and a turnover margin of -3.1.

The Marist Red Foxes dropped to 7-7 on the season after being defeated by the Rider Broncs, 79-75, this past Sunday. Marist had no answers on the defensive end for Rider and could not fight back after the Broncs took a 65-51 lead with 6:57 left in regulation. Marist shot 37.7% from the field & 33.3% from beyond the arc while allowing Rider to shoot 57.1% from the field & 64.3% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Red Foxes was Ricardo Wright who had 14 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, & 2 steals.

On the season, Marist is averaging 70.2 ppg on 43.9% shooting from the field. The Red Foxes are averaging 7.9 three-pointers per game on 33.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Marist has been led by Ricardo Wright (14.1 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.2 apg), Jao Ituka (13.1 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 1.1 apg), Samkelo Cele (10.1 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.0 apg), & Matt Herasme (5.6 ppg, 5.2 apg).

Defensively, Marist is allowing their opponents to average 67.8 ppg on 41.1% shooting from the field. The Red Foxes have a rebound margin of -0.4 and are averaging 6.4 steals per game.

The Saints are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games & 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games against Marist. The Red Foxes are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. MAAC opponents.

Siena has struggled on both ends of the court this season as the Saints come into this game ranked just 309th in scoring offense, 233rd in scoring defense, & 284th in defensive FG%. Marist has been led by their defense which ranks 155th in scoring defense & 101st in defensive FG%, however, the offense can struggle at time and comes into this matchup ranked just 224th in scoring offense.

Marist disappointed on the defensive end against a Rider team that had no trouble beating earlier in the season and although Siena has struggled this year, they are 3-3 on the road this season. Siena is a bit better of a team than what we’ve seen from them this season and between the fact that the Saints have had plenty of success over the years against Marist and that Red Foxes have a losing record at home this season, I think the play here is to take Siena and the points. Good Luck!
