The BYU Cougars and the San Francisco Dons meet Saturday in college basketball action from War Memorial Gym. BYU sits at 14-4 on the year. The Cougars lost to Gonzaga in their last game. As for San Francisco, they’re 15-2 and fresh off a big win over LMU. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

BYU posted a 10-2 run over their first dozen games, losing to only Utah Valley and Creighton. Over the last six games it’s been a 4-2 run with wins over Liberty, Westminster UT, Pacific and Saint Mary’s bookended by losses to Vanderbilt and Gonzaga.

Matched up against Gonzaga on Thursday, the Cougars coughed up 61 points in the first half and 49 more from there in a 110-84 blowout loss. Leading the scoring was Alex Barcello with 19 points. Caleb Lohner added 17 points and five rebounds as well.

Over on the San Francisco side, they won 10 straight to start the season before a loss to Grand Canyon in mid-December. Three more wins came next, then a loss to Loyola IL. The Dons have since taken out San Diego and Loyola Marymount in their last pair.

In the LMU game Thursday, San Francisco didn’t have much trouble. The Dons jumped out to a 52-29 halftime edge on the way to a 97-73 win. Jamaree Bouyea led the way on 22 points and five assists. Khalil Shabazz posted 17 points and six assists of his own.

San Francisco is 10-29-2 ATS in their last 41 Saturday games and 5-16 ATS in their last 21 after a straight-up win. The Dons are 0-9 ATS in their last nine after an ATS win.

Meanwhile, the Cougars are 12-4-1 ATS in their last 17 Saturday games and 14-5-1 ATS in their last 20 road games. The over is 4-0 in BYU’s last four after an ATS loss.

PICK: I’m going to stay with the Dons here. We should have a quality matchup on our hands regardless, though. San Francisco has picked up the offense over the last four games with 74 or more points in each and a 3-1 record over that time. BYU will provide a nice challenge. The Cougars have been at 73 points or more in there of the last five with a 4-1 record during those games. I like this one to be a higher-scoring, competitive matchup with San Francisco eking into a cover. Should be fun.
