The Colorado State Rams will travel to the Provident Credit Union Event Center to take on the San Jose State Spartans this Saturday night in College Basketball action.

The Colorado State Rams improved to 12-1 on the season after defeating the Utah State Aggies, 77-72, this past Wednesday. Colorado State led by a 33-24 margin at halftime and was able to hold off the Aggies for the victory after taking a 67-62 lead with 2:30 left in regulation. Colorado State shot 46.3% from the field & 37.0% from beyond the arc while allowing Utah State to shoot 45.5% from the field & 22.2% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Rams was David Roddy who had 24 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, & 1 steal.

On the season, Colorado State is averaging 79.0 ppg on 50.0% from the field. The Rams are averaging 8.7 three-pointers per game on 39.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Colorado State has been led by David Roddy (19.8 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 2.2 apg, 1.0 spg, 1.3 bpg), Isaiah Stevens (15.2 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 6.1 apg, 1.6 spg), John Tonje (10.5 ppg, 3.1 rpg), & Dischon Thomas (7.2 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.2 apg).

Defensively, Colorado State is allowing their opponents to average 67.7 ppg on 50.0% shooting from the field. The Rams have a rebound margin of 0.8 and a turnover margin of 1.8.

The San Jose State Spartans dropped to 7-6 on the season after being defeated by the Fresno State Bulldogs, 79-59, this past Tuesday. San Jose State had no answers on the defensive end for Fresno State and could not fight back after going into halftime trailing by a 39-28 margin. San Jose State shot 42.0% from the field & 36.4% from beyond the arc while allowing Fresno State to shoot 52.5% from the field & 37.5% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Spartans was Trey Anderson who had 18 points & 5 rebounds.

On the season, San Jose State is averaging 71.8 ppg on 45.2% shooting from the field. The Spartans are averaging 10.2 three-pointers per game on 39.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, San Jose State has been led by Omari Moore (13.8 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 4.9 apg, 1.3 spg, 1.2 bpg), Trey Smith (10.8 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 2.2 apg), Trey Anderson (10.1 ppg, 5.2 rpg), & Tibet Gorener (9.8 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 1.3 apg).

Defensively, San Jose State is allowing their opponents to average 69.4 ppg on 43.5% shooting from the field. The Spartans have a rebound margin of -1.5 and a turnover margin of -2.0.

The Rams are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 road games vs. San Jose State and 6-6 ATS overall on the season. The Spartans are 8-4 ATS in their last 12 games and 6-1 ATS in their last 7 home games.

Colorado State has been led by their offense which comes into this game ranked t-38th in scoring offense, 7th in FG%, & 8th in 3P-FG% and have been average on the defensive end as the Rams currently rank 152nd in scoring defense & 195th in defensive FG%. San Jose State has been led by their offense which ranks 187th in scoring offense, 16th in three-pointers made per game, & 7th in 3P-FG%, however, the defense has struggled a bit and comes into this matchup ranked just t-196th in scoring defense, 229th in defensive FG%, & 269th in rebound margin.

San Jose State is an impressive 6-1 at home, however, they haven’t played the toughest of competition on their home court and did lose in late December to Santa Clara by a 79-57 margin. Colorado State is one of the best mid-major teams in the country that is going to be back in the top-25 at some point this season and as I think the Spartans are not going to have any answers for David Roddy and the Rams offense, I think Colorado State does enough to cover this large home spread. Good Luck!
