The Florida Gators will travel to Colonial Life Arena to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The Florida Gators lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 9-6 on the season after being defeated by the 12th ranked LSU Tigers, 64-58, this past Wednesday. Florida fought back from a 44-30 deficit to make it a competitive game late, however, the Gators offense just could do enough to take the lead and LSU was able to pull away late after taking a 62-58 lead with 1:11 left in regulation. Florida shot 36.4% from the field & 22.6% from beyond the arc while allowing LSU to shoot 50.0% from the field & 33.3% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Gators was Colin Castleton who had 19 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocks, & 1 steal.

On the season, Florida is averaging 72.6 ppg on 42.5% shooting from the field. The Gators are averaging 7.6 three-pointers per game on 30.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Florida has been led by Colin Castleton (15.8 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 1.7 apg, 2.4 bpg), Phlandrous Fleming Jr. (10.7 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.3 spg), Myreon Jones (9.9 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.6 spg), & Tyree Appleby (9.5 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 3.5 apg, 1.5 spg).

Defensively, Florida is holding their opponents to an average of 63.4 ppg on 43.9% shooting from the field. The Gators have a rebound margin of 2.7 and a turnover margin of 3.3.

The South Carolina Gamecocks dropped to 10-5 on the season after being defeated by the 22nd ranked Tennessee Volunteers, 66-46, this past Tuesday. South Carolina trailed by a 30-24 margin at halftime and could not fight back after Tennessee took a 45-29 lead with 14:20 left in regulation. South Carolina shot 34.7% from the field & 31.6% from beyond the arc while allowing Tennessee to shoot 43.6% from the field & 33.3% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Gamecocks was James Reese V who had 15 points, 5 rebounds, & 1 steal.

On the season, South Carolina is averaging 72.5 ppg on 44.0% shooting from the field. The Gamecocks are averaging 6.8 three-pointers per game on 32.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, South Carolina has been led by Erik Stevenson (11.3 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.3 spg), James Reese V (10.2 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.2 spg), Jermaine Couisnard (9.9 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 2.2 apg, 1.0 spg), & Wildens Leveque (9.7 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.0 bpg).

Defensviely, South Carolina is allowing their opponents to average 67.3 ppg on 38.7% shooting from the field. The Gamecocks have a rebound margin of 4.7 and a turnover margin of -0.1.

The Gators are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games and just 3-6 ATS in their last 9 games vs. South Carolina. The Gamecocks are 5-3 ATS in their last 8 home games, however, are just 3-11 ATS in their last 14 Saturday games.

Florida has been led by their defense which ranks 57th in scoring defense & 21st in steals per game, however, the Gators have had problems putting up points and currently rank just 165th in scoring offense, 261st in FG%, & 301st in 3P-FG%. South Carolina has also been led by their defense which ranks 143rd in scoring defense, 20th in defensive FG%, & 69th in rebound margin and although their offense isn’t overpowering, it’s been decent at times and come into this game ranked 168th in scoring offense.

Florida was able to pick up some solid wins early in the season, however, the Gators have struggled a bit as of late and haven’t looked great offensively this season. South Carolina is 7-1 at home and as I think their defense is going to give Florida some trouble, I think the Gamecocks do enough at home to cover with the points. Good Luck!
