Western Carolina vs Wofford 1/15/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Wofford Terriers and the Western Carolina Catamounts meet Saturday in college basketball action from Ramsey Center. Wofford is 11-7 so far this year. The Terriers beat Samford in their last game. Wofford managed an 8-4 run over their first dozen games, falling to Clemson, South Carolina, Richmond and Coastal Carolina. The Terriers are just 2-3 since then. They’ve got losses to VMI, Chattanooga and UNCG mixed with wins over East TN State and Samford. 

In the Samford game, the Terriers scored 45 points in the first half and 42 more from there in a dominant 87-64 victory. Leading scorer BJ Mack posted 18 points with five boards. Max Klesmit added 16 points with three rebounds as well. 

Over on the Western Carolina side, they went on a 6-4 run through their first 10 games with losses to Wake Forest, East Carolina, UMBC and Gardner-Webb. It’s been a 2-5 stretch since then however; the only wins have been versus the Citadel and Chattanooga. 

On Wednesday matched up against Chattanooga, the Catamounts were down 30-26 at halftime. Western Carolina went on a 44-29 run from there in a 70-59 comeback win. Leading scorer Nicholas Robinson put up 15 points with five rebounds and three assists. 

The Catamounts are 5-0-1 ATS in their last six at home and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS win. The over is 11-4 in Western Carolina’s last 15 overall. 

Meanwhile, the Terriers are 1-5 ATS in their last six after an ATS win and 1-5 ATS in their last six after a straight-up win. Wofford is 4-1 in their last five Saturday games. 

PICK: I’m probably going to stay with Wofford. That said, the Terriers have been a bit iffy lately on the scoreboard. They’ve hit 68 or fewer points in in four of their last seven games and have a tendency to cough up big totals to solid offensive teams. Western Carolina is certainly in that category when they’re playing well, but the Catamounts also give up quite a bit on the other side with regularity. This is something of a dice roll, but I think Wofford can pull it off.
