The Miami-OH RedHawks and the Western Michigan Broncos meet Saturday in college basketball action from University Arena. Miami-OH is 7-7 so far this season. The RedHawks lost to Toledo in their last game. As for Western Michigan, they’re 4-11 and fell to Buffalo in their last appearance. Miami-OH started off on a five-game win streak this year, then hit the skids versus Western Illinois, Cincinnati, Indiana State, Clemson and Bellarmine. After wins over Spalding and Buffalo, the RedHawks lost to Bowling Green and Toledo.

In the Toledo matchup back on Tuesday, Miami-OH was down by 11 points at halftime. The RedHawks got better from there but still lost 75-72. Mekhi Lairy was tops in scoring with 17 points, seven assists and four rebounds.

Over on the Western Michigan side, they were 4-6 over their first 10 games this year with wins over Hope, Fort Wayne, SE Louisiana and Aquinas. Since then it’s been a five-game losing streak to Notre Dame, Toledo, Ohio, Eastern Michigan and Buffalo.

In the Buffalo game Tuesday, the Broncos had a 34-33 edge in the first half but faltered from there in an eventual 78-64 loss. Both Markeese Hastings and B. Artis White scored 12 points apiece, combining for five rebounds and two assists.

The Broncos are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 at home and 2-5 ATS in the last seven overall. The under is 3-1-1 in Western Michigan’s last five overall

Meanwhile, the Redhawks are 0-4 ATS in the last four Saturday games and 2-6-2 ATS in their last 10 after an ATS loss. Miami-OH is 1-5 ATS in their last six overall.

PICK: I’m probably taking Miami-OH here. It’s something of a coin flip, though. The RedHawks are on a pretty ugly run lately with seven losses over their last nine games. That said, Miami-OH is still scoring fairly well. They’ve hit 67 points or more in eight of those nine games. Western Michigan is struggling as well: the Broncos have been at 64 points or fewer in four of the last five (all losses). If Miami-OH can get their offense going early in this one they shouldn’t have an issue covering.
