Eastern Michigan vs Kent State 1/18/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Kent State Golden Flashes and the Eastern Michigan Eagles meet Tuesday in college basketball action from EMU Convocation Center. Kent State is currently 8-8 on the year. The Flashes beat Akron in their last appearance. As for Eastern Michigan, they’re 7-8 and coming off a loss to Northern Illinois. Kent State hit a decent 5-3 run to start the year with losses to Xavier, East Tennessee State and Towson mixed in. It’s been a 3-4 stretch in the seven games since. The Flashes have victories over only Toledo, Ball State and Akron during that time. 

In the Akron matchup last Friday, Kent State posted 32 points in the first half and 35 more from there in a 67-55 win. Tops in scoring was Sincere Carry with 32 points and four rebounds. Tervell Beck added 11 points with five boards as well. 

Over on the Eastern Michigan side, they managed wins over only Illinois State and Western Illinois during their first seven games this year. The Eagles have looked better since then on a 5-3 run. The losses in that stretch were to Valparaiso, Ball State and Northern Illinois. 

Matched up against Northern Illinois on Saturday, the Eagles were down 39-32 at halftime. Eastern Michigan kept the pace from there but still lost 77-70. Noah Farrakhan led the way on 27 points with four rebounds in the losing effort. 

EMU is 6-1 ATS in their last seven at home and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 Tuesday games. The Eagles are 5-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS loss. 

Meanwhile, the Flashes are 1-5 ATS in their last six after an ATS win and 0-4 ATS in their last four road games. Kent State is 2-6 ATS in their last eight overall.

PICK: I’m going to try Eastern Michigan here. The Eagles have been a mixed bag lately in the win column (2-2 in their last four), but the good news is that they’re still scoring well. EMU has hit 70 or more in each of those four games, and they’ve been competitive in each as well. As for Kent State, they’ve been at 67 points or below in four of their last five games so points will be at a premium here. I like Eastern Michigan to power out a cover with a solid offensive outing.
