The Boston University Terriers and the Loyola MD Greyhounds meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Reitz Arena. Boston U is currently 11-8 this year. The Terriers lost to Navy in their last game. As for Loyola MD, they’re 11-6 on the season and beat Lehigh in their most recent outing. Boston U posted a pretty solid 10-4 run in their first 14 games this year, losing to Northeastern, Florida State, Marist and Rhode Island. The Terriers are just 1-4 in their last five however, losing to Navy, Loyola MD, Army and Navy again.
In the second Navy game on Sunday, the Terriers had a two-point lead at halftime. After a 42-33 deficit in the second half, Boston U lost 72-65. Leading the scoring in that one was Sukhmail Mathon with 24 points and 14 rebounds.
Over on the Loyola MD side, they managed a .500 run over their first dozen games with victories over South Carolina State, Elizabethtown, Fairfield, Chicago State, Mount St. Mary’s and Hampton. It’s been a five-game win streak since then, culminating in a weekend win over Lehigh.
In the Lehigh game on Sunday, the Greyhounds were down 33-23 at halftime. Loyola MD stormed back on a 46-24 run to bag the 69-57 comeback win. Cam Spencer topped the team on 26 points with seven rebounds and five assists.
The Greyhounds are 5-12-1 ATS in their last 18 after an ATS win and 5-2 ATS in their last seven after a straight-up win. The over is 15-7 in Loyola’s last 22 Wednesday games.
Meanwhile, the Terriers are 7-3-2 ATS in their last 12 road games and 3-0-1 ATS in the last four Wednesday games. Boston U is 1-4 ATS in the last five after a straight-up loss.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Loyola MD. The Greyhounds got into some trouble in the first half of their last game versus Lehigh, but to their credit the team was able to pull off the W. Loyola MD has scored pretty well over this five-game win streak, with 69 or more points in four of those. As for Boston U, they’ve been at 65 or below in three of their last five games—including the loss to Loyola MD 66-58 on January 7. I like this one to be a higher-scoring outing, but I think the Greyhounds will take the cover/win as well.
