The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors and the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners meet Thursday in college basketball action from Icardo Center. Hawaii is currently 7-5 on the year. The Warriors beat UC San Diego in their last matchup over the weekend. As for Cal State Bakersfield, they’re 6-6 and took out Cal Poly in their last game. Hawaii started the year a little spotty at 4-5 in their first nine. The Warriors beat Hawaii-Hilo, Pacific, UIC and Hawaii Pacific in that stretch. Since then it’s been a three-game win streak for the Warriors versus Long Beach State, UC Irvine and UC San Diego.

In the UC San Diego game, the Warriors didn’t have much trouble. Hawaii jumped out to a 41-18 halftime lead and cruised to a 79-56 blowout win. Leading scorer Jerome Desrosiers doubled up on 18 points, 13 rebounds and three assists in the victory.

Over on the CSU Bakersfield side, they posted a 5-4 stretch in their first nine games with losses to UCLA, Northern AZ, Abilene Christian and Colorado along the way. After losses to CSU Fullerton and UC Riverside, the Roadrunners took out Cal Poly on Tuesday.

Matched up against Cal Poly in their last game, the Roadrunners utilized a 43-30 edge in the second half to power out a 73-60 victory. Kaleb Higgins posted 17 bench points in the win, and Shawn Stith chipped in 16 points with seven boards.

The Roadrunners are 10-22-1 ATS in their last 33 at home and 1-5-1 ATS in the last seven after an ATS win. CSUB is 3-8-1 ATS in the last 12 overall.

Meanwhile, the Warriors are 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS win and 4-1 ATS in the last five after a straight-up win. Hawaii is 5-2 ATS in the last seven Thursday games.

PICK: I’m probably going to stay with Hawaii here. The Warriors were spotty to begin this season, but ever since the calendar year began they’ve been playing much better. Hawaii has hit 72 or more points in each of their last three, holding opponents to 67 or fewer points in each as well. As for CSU Bakersfield, they bagged a nice win on Tuesday but have struggled to score lately. The Roadrunners have 67 points or fewer in seven of their last eight games. If they can get off to a good offensive pace Hawaii should have control here.
