The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers and the Georgia Southern Eagles meet in college basketball action from Hanner Fieldhouse on Thursday night.

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will look to bounce back from a three-game losing skid after an 84-78 OT loss to App State last time out. Essam Mostafa leads the Chanticleers in scoring and rebounding with 15.5 PPG and 9.9 RPG while Rudi Williams has 12.9 PPG with 4.4 RPG and 3.4 APG. Vince Cole has 14.5 PPG with 3.5 to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for Coastal up to this point in the season. Ebrima Dibba has 7.2 PPG with 4.6 RPG and a team-high 6.6 APG and Garrick Green has 7.4 PPG and 5.6 RPG as well so far this season. As a team, Coastal Carolina is averaging 76 PPG on 46.9% shooting from the field, 34.3% from three and 68.2% from the foul line while allowing 65.6 PPG on 37.8% shooting from the field and 30.1% from three this season.

The Georgia Southern Eagles will look to bounce back from a 73-67 road loss to South Alabama last time out. Elijah McCadden leads Georgia Southern in scoring with 12.5 PPG and a team-high 2.4 APG while Andrei Savrasov has 11.7 PPG with a team-high 6.1 RPG to lead the Eagles on the glass this season. Kamari Brown has 10.2 PPG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for Georgia Southern as well on the year. As a team, Georgia Southern is averaging 70.4 PPG on 48% shooting from the field, 32.2% from three and 66.1% from the foul line while allowing 63.6 PPG on 40.3% shooting from the field and 33% from three this season.

Coastal Carolina is 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a loss while the under is 3-1 in their last 5 road games against a team with a winning home record. Georgia Southern is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 home games while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning record.

I think this line looks a bit strange, but I can’t find a reason to go against the Eagles here. Sure, neither team’s playing all that great right now, but we’re getting the Eagles in a pick ‘em spot at home where they’re unbeaten against a Coastal team that’s winless on the road this season. I’ll back the Eagles in this one.
