The San Francisco Dons will travel to McCarthey Athletic Center to take on the top-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs this Thursday night in College Basketball action.

The San Francisco Dons had their 2-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 15-3 on the season after being defeated by the BYU Cougars, 71-69, this past Saturday. San Francisco struggled on the offensive end against BYU and could not fight back after a Caleb Lohner layup game BYU a 68-65 lead with just :56 seconds left in regulation. San Francisco shot 32.3% from the field & 13.0% from beyond the arc while allowing BYU to shoot 43.1% from the field & 36.8% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Dons was Jamaree Bouyea who had 19 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 block, & 1 steal.

On the season, San Francisco is averaging 77.4 ppg on 47.6% shooting from the field. The Dons are averaging 9.7 three-pointers per game on 35.9% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, San Francisco has been led by Jamaree Bouyea (17.9 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 3.8 apg, 1.6 spg), Yauhen Massalski (14.1 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 1.5 apg, 2.3 bpg), Khalil Shabazz (12.6 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.3 apg, 2.0 spg), & Gabe Stefanini (8.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 2.2 apg, 1.1 spg).

Defensively, San Francisco is holding their opponents to an average of 65.5 ppg on 41.6% shooting from the field. The Dons have a rebound margin of 6.9 and a turnover margin of -1.0.

The top-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs won their 7th straight game and improved to 14-2 on the season after defeating the Santa Clara Broncos, 115-83, this past Saturday. Gonzaga was outstanding offensively against Santa Clara and had no trouble pulling away in the 2nd half for the victory after taking a 71-52 lead with 16:12 left in regulation. Gonzaga shot 58.7% from the field & 46.2% from beyond the arc while holding 39.7% from the field & 30.8% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Drew Timme who had 32 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, & 1 block.

On the season, Gonzaga is averaging 90.9 ppg on 53.9% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs are averaging 8.5 three-pointers per game on 36.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Gonzaga has been led by Drew Timme (18.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 2.3 apg), Chet Holmgren (13.1 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 2.1 apg, 3.4 bpg), Julian Strawther (12.9 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.1 apg), & Andrew Nembhard (9.7 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 5.3 apg, 1.7 spg).

Defensively, Gonzaga is allowing their opponents to an average of 66.4 ppg on 38.3% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs have a rebound margin of 10.3 and a turnover margin of 1.1.

The Dons are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games & just 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games vs. WCC opponents. The Bulldogs are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games & 5-5 ATS in their last 10 home games.

San Francisco has been solid on both ends of the court this season as the Dons come into this game ranked 57th in scoring offense, 35th in FG%, & 89th in scoring defense. Gonzaga has the best offense in the court as they come into this game ranked 1st in scoring offense, 1st in FG%, & 53rd in 3P-FG% and have been solid defensively as the Bulldogs currently rank 15th in defensive FG% & 6th in rebound margin.

San Francisco is a very good team with some solid playmakers in Jamaree Bouyea & Khalil Shabazz, however, San Francisco just doesn’t overall talent to matchup with Gonzaga on the road. Gonzaga seems to play up against the better team in the WCC as we saw against Santa Clara this past weekend and after seeing the Bulldogs defeat a similar San Francisco team last year at home by 23 points, I think we see a similar result in this one and that Gonzaga covers this large spread. Good Luck!
