AR-Little Rock vs TX-Arlington 1/22/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Texas-Arlington Mavericks and the Little Rock Trojans meet Saturday in college basketball action from Jack Stephens Center. TX-Arlington is coming off a game versus Arkansas State on Thursday. The Mavericks ended up losing by five points. As for the Trojans, they took on Texas State in their Thursday matchup. In that one, Little Rock fell by 10 points. TX-Arlington posted a spotty 3-7 run over the first 10 games this year. The Mavericks beat only Mary Hardin-Baylor, UCSB and Lamar in that time. Texas-Arlington hit a 5-2 stretch after that, taking losses to only Georgia Southern and UL Monroe. 

In the Thursday game versus Arkansas State, TX-Arlington had a 35-26 lead at the break. The Mavericks were outscored 49-35 from there in a tough 75-70 loss. David Azore was the top scorer on the team with 18 points and two rebounds. 

Over on the Little Rock side, they went 4-2 over their first half-dozen this year before hitting a losing streak versus Tulsa, Colorado State, Arkansas and Missouri State. The Trojans would go 2-2 over their next four, falling to Jacksonville State and UL Monroe along the way. 

On Thursday versus Texas State, Little Rock was outscored 43-24 in the first half. The Trojans got better from there but still lost 69-59. Leading the way were Myron Gardner and CJ White, each with 13 points and a combined seven boards. 

Little Rock is 4-9 ATS in their last 13 after an ATS loss and 7-21-1 ATS in their last 29 overall. The under is 13-3 in the Trojans’ last 16 at home. 

Meanwhile, the Mavericks are 5-2 ATS in their last seven Saturday games and 6-13 ATS in their last 19 road games. The under is 12-5 in TX-Arlington’s last 17 Saturday games. 

PICK: I’m going to try Texas-Arlington here. The Mavericks have had some bad luck in the win column lately; they’re 1-3 in their last four with two overtime losses. TX-Arlington was ahead at halftime in the other loss as well. The Mavericks have had a tough time closing out games but should have a promising matchup here. As for Little Rock, if they get off to a good start here I like them to hang around. That said, I think  TX-Arlington eventually pulls away on a cover.
