The Omaha Mavericks and the Denver Pioneers meet Saturday in college basketball action from Hamilton Gymnasium. Omaha is 3-16 this year and coming off a loss to South Dakota. As for Denver, they’re sitting at 7-14 so far. The Pioneers beat Kansas City in their last appearance. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Omaha went just 3-12 over their first 15 games this year. The only wins came versus Hastings College, Western Illinois and North Dakota. Since then it’s been losses to North Dakota State, Kansas City, South Dakota State and South Dakota.

In the South Dakota game last weekend, the Mavericks were down 57-33 by halftime. Omaha fell even further back from there in an ugly 105-70 blowout loss. Felix Lemettie and Frankie Fidler each notched 11 points, combining for seven rebounds.

Over on the Denver side, they opened the year on a 3-9 run, then won three of five versus UC San Diego, St. Thomas Minnesota and North Dakota. After losses to North Dakota State, South Dakota State and South Dakota the Pioneers managed a win over Kansas City.

Matched up against UMKC on Monday, the Pioneers posted a 30-23 edge in the first half and a 33-32 run from there for the 63-55 victory. Tevin Smith led the way on 23 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan Johnson added 17 points with three assists as well.

The Pioneers are 6-2 ATS in their last eight at home and 7-3 ATS in the last 10 after an ATS win. The over is 22-8 in Denver’s last 30 at home.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks are 1-5 ATS in their last six Saturday games and 4-0 ATS in their last four after an ATS loss. Omaha is 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games.

PICK: I’m probably going to stay with Denver here. That said, there’s not much to get excited about in this game; neither team has been playing all that well. That said, the Pioneers have posted some decent points totals lately. Denver has notched 69 or more in five of their last eight games—they’re just 3-5 in that time, though. As for Omaha, they’ve allowed a combined 200 points across their last two outings. Denver should have some opportunities to flex the offense here, so I’m leaning that way on a potential cover.
