The Ole Miss Rebels will travel to Humphrey Coliseum to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The Ole Miss Rebels lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 9-8 on the season after being defeated by the Missouri Tigers, 78-53, this past Tuesday. Ole Miss had no answers for Missouri on either end of the court and could not fight back after going into halftime trailing by a 38-23 margin. Ole Miss shot just 34.4% from the field & 27.3% from beyond the arc while allowing Missouri to shoot 62.7% from the field & 57.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Rebels was Daeshun Ruffin who had 12 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, & 4 steals.

On the season, Ole Miss is averaging 68.4 ppg on 42.5% shooting from the field. The Rebels are averaging 7.2 three-pointers per game on 32.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Ole Miss has been led by Jarkel Joiner (13.6 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.2 spg), Daeshun Ruffin (11.2 ppg, 3.3 apg, 2.4 spg), Matthew Murrell (9.6 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 1.6 apg), & Nysier Brooks (9.4 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 1.2 bpg). Ole Miss will be without Jarkel Joiner who is out until late February due to a back injury.

Defensively, Ole Miss is allowing their opponents to average 66.1 ppg on 43.6% shooting from the field. The Rebels have a rebound margin of 0.1 and a turnover margin of 1.6.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs had their 2-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 12-5 on the season after being defeated by the Florida Gators, 80-72, this past Wednesday. Mississippi State held a 61-53 lead with 8:57 left in regulation, however, the Bulldogs offense struggled down the stretch and Florida was able to pull away after taking a 75-66 lead with 1:31 left in regulation. Mississippi State shot 54.0% from the field & 30.8% from beyond the arc while allowing Florida to shoot 51.1% from the field & 41.7% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Tolu Smith who had 17 points, 6 rebounds, & 2 steals.

On the season, Mississippi State is averaging 75.4 ppg on 47.6% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs are averaging 5.8 three-pointers per game on 32.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Mississippi State has been led by Iverson Molinar (17.6 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 4.5 apg, 1.1 spg), Tolu Smith (13.4 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 1.4 apg), Shakeel Moore (11.2 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.0 apg, 2.0 spg), & Garrison Brooks (10.9 ppg, 6.6 rpg).

Defensively, Mississippi State is holding their opponents to an average of 65.6 ppg on 42.0% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs have a rebound margin of 9.4 and a turnover margin of 0.9.

The Rebels are 3-6 ATS in their last 9 games and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up loss of more than 20 points. The Bulldogs are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 home games & 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games following a ATS loss.

Ole Miss has been led by their defense which ranks t-102nd in scoring defense & 97thin turnover margin, however, the offense has had plenty of issues and comes into this game ranked just 258th in scoring offense, 259th in FG%, & 238th in 3P-FG%. Mississippi State has been solid on both sides of the ball this season and come into this game ranked 95th in scoring offense, 32nd in FG%, & 90th in scoring defense.

Ole Miss is without their leading scorer and just looked awful in their last game against Missouri on both ends of the court. Mississippi State is 10-1 at home this season and as I just don’t see the Rebels being able to score more than 50 points in this one, I think the Rebels do enough offensively to cover this double-digit spread. Good Luck!
