The 5th ranked Baylor Bears will travel to the Lloyd Noble Center to take on the Oklahoma Sooners this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The 5th ranked Baylor Bears snapped their 2-game losing streak and improved to 16-2 on the season after defeating the West Virginia Mountaineers, 77-68, this past Tuesday. Baylor led by a 37-33 margin at halftime and was able to pull away late for the victory after taking a 71-61 lead with 3:23 left in regulation. Baylor shot 46.7% from the field & 44.4% from beyond the arc while allowing West Virginia to shoot 39.3% from the field & 33.3% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Bears was LJ Cryer who had 25 points, 2 rebounds, & 1 assist.

On the season, Baylor is averaging 79.7 ppg on 48.0% from the field. The Bears are averaging 9.0 three-pointers per game on 36.9% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Baylor has been led by James Akinjo (13.9 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 5.7 apg, 2.1 spg), LJ Cryer (13.9 ppg, 1.6 rpg, 1.7 apg), Adam Flagler (12.2 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 3.6 apg, 1.2 spg), & Kendall Brown (10.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.1 spg).

Defensively, Baylor is holding their opponents to an average of 60.3 ppg on 41.5% shooting from the field. The Bears have a rebound margin of 8.1 and a turnover margin of 4.4.

The Oklahoma Sooners lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 12-6 on the season after being defeated by the 7th ranked Kansas Jayhawks, 67-64, this past Tuesday. Oklahoma led by a 52-46 margin midway through the 2nd half, however, the Sooners defense struggled down the stretch and Kansas was able to take the lead for good after Christian Braun’s three-pointer gave the Jayhawks a 65-62 lead with :13 seconds left in regulation. Oklahoma shot 42.9% from the field & 23.5% from beyond the arc while allowing Kansas to shoot 47.4% from the field & 47.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Sooners was Jordan Goldwire who had 15 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, & 3 steals.

On the season, Oklahoma is averaging 71.9 ppg on 49.5% shooting from the field. The Sooners are averaging 7.3 three-pointers per game on 34.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Oklahoma has been led by Tanner Groves (12.8 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 2.1 apg), Umoja Gibson (12.4 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.5 spg), Elijah Harkless (9.8 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.1 spg), & Jordan Goldwire (9.7 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 3.6 apg, 1.6 spg).

The Bears are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games, however, are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games at Oklahoma. The Sooners are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games vs. Big-12 opponents & 5-5 ATS in their last 10 home games.

Baylor has been outstanding on both ends of the court this season as the Bears come into this game ranked 25th in scoring offense, 27th in FG%, 20th in scoring defense, & 14th in rebound margin. Oklahoma has been solid defensively this season as the Sooners rank 33rd in scoring defense & 120th in defensive FG% and although the scoring offense ranks just 178th, Oklahoma has shot the ball well this season as they rank 11th in FG%.

Baylor was able to defeat Oklahoma by an 84-74 margin on their home court a few weeks ago, however, its been a struggle for the Bears as of late as they are just 2-2 since that victory with home losses to Texas Tech & Oklahoma State. Oklahoma has lost 4 of their last 5 games, however, they been competitive against some of the best teams in the Big-12 and between the fact that the Sooners are 8-2 at home and I think their defense will have more success than what we saw in the first matchup, I’m taking Oklahoma to cover with the points. Good Luck!
