Pacific vs San Diego 1/22/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The San Diego Toreros and the Pacific Tigers meet Saturday in college basketball action from Alex G. Spanos Center. San Diego is 10-8 this year and lost to BYU in their last game. As for Pacific, they’re sitting at 5-11. The Tigers fell to Santa Clara in their most recent outing. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

San Diego posted a 7-5 record in their first dozen this year, losing to Cal, CSU Fullerton, South Alabama, CSU Northridge and Fresno State. It’s been a 3-3 run for the Toreros since then with losses to UNLV, San Francisco and BYU. 

In the Cougars matchup on Thursday, the Toreros were outscored 48-40 in the second half on the way to a 79-71 loss. Jase Townsend led the team with 14 bench points, and Marcellus Earlington added 12 points with seven rebounds. 

Over on the Pacific side, they managed to win four of their first seven this year. The Tigers have been on an ugly 1-8 run since then, though. In the last five Pacific has lost to North Dakota State, UC Davis, California, BYU and Santa Clara. 

Back on January 12 versus Santa Clara, the Tigers were outscored 41-36 in the first half and 43-34 from there in an 84-70 defeat. Both Alphonso Anderson and Luke Avdalovic scored 23 points apiece, combining for seven rebounds as well. 

The Tigers are 2-6 ATS in their last eight at home and 5-16 ATS in their last 21 overall. The over is 6-1 in Pacific’s last seven overall. 

Meanwhile, the Toreros are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five overall. The over is 4-1 in San Diego’s last five road games. 

PICK: I’m going to stay with San Diego. Probably not touching this one, though. The Toreros have notched some decent points totals lately, hitting 68 or more in each of their last five games (with a 3-2 record in that time). San Diego was able to hang around with a tricky BYU team on the road in their last outing but just couldn’t keep pace after halftime. 

As for Pacific, they’ve played just two games since December 22 so it’s tough knowing what they’ll look like. All things considered though I don’t think the Tigers will be able to keep up here if San Diego gets going.
