The New Mexico Lobos and the Wyoming Cowboys meet Saturday in college basketball action from Arena-Auditorium. New Mexico sits at 7-11 this year. The Lobos are coming off a loss to Colorado State. As for Wyoming, they’re 14-2 and took out San Jose State in their last outing. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

New Mexico started out 4-1 this year, then hit a choppy stretch in November/December that left the team at 7-6. Since then it’s been five straight losses to Nevada, Utah State, UNLV, Boise State and Colorado State for the Lobos.

In the Colorado State game, New Mexico trailed by five points heading into halftime. After a 43-42 second-half deficit the Lobos ended up losing 80-74. Both Jaelen House and Javonte Johnson scored 18 points apiece with a combined six boards.

Over on the Wyoming side, they won nine of their first 11 games; the only losses were to Arizona and Stanford. It’s been a five-game win streak over Northern Iowa, South Florida, Utah State, Nevada and San Jose State since then.

In the San Jose State matchup, the Cowboys posted 45 points in the first half and 39 more in the second for an 84-69 win. Top scorer Hunter Maldonado doubled up on 20 points with 12 assists, and Noah Reynolds put up 14 points off the bench.

The Cowboys are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five at home and 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 overall. Wyoming is 4-0-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games.

Meanwhile, the Lobos are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games and 4-0-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games. New Mexico is 5-1 ATS in their last six overall.

PICK: I’m sticking with Wyoming, even though the line is a little hefty. The Cowboys have played some great ball over the last five games; they’ve scored 71 or more points in each and came back from the early-January layoff without missing a beat. Considering New Mexico has given up 71 or more points in each of their last five games (all losses), there should be plenty of scoring opportunities for Wyoming in this one. I like the Cowboys to keep it rolling.
