The New Mexico State Aggies and the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks meet in college basketball action from the William R. Johnson Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The New Mexico State Aggies will look to bounce back from a 71-46 loss on the road to Sam Houston State last time out. Teddy Allen leads the Aggies in scoring and rebounding with 17.8 PPG and 6.8 RPG along with 2.6 APG while Sir’Jabari Rice has 12.3 PPG with 5.1 RPG and a team-high 3 APG to lead the Aggies in the assist department and to round out the pair of double-digit scorers for New Mexico State so far this season. As a team, New Mexico State is averaging 71.2 PPG on 46.6% shooting from the field, 33% from three and 72.4% from the foul line while allowing 63.8 PPG on 39.8% shooting from the field and 31.3% from three this season.

The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks will try to build on their 71-48 win over Grand Canyon last time out. Gavin Kensmil leads the Lumberjacks in scoring and rebounding with 14.5 PPG and 6.9 RPG while David Kachelries has 11.2 PPG with a team-high 4.3 APG. Roti Ware has 11.3 PPG to cap off the scoring in double figures for SFA so far this season. As a team, Stephen F. Austin is averaging 74.9 PPG on 46.8% shooting from the field, 35% from three and 67.3% from the foul line while allowing 69.1 PPG on 42.9% shooting from the field and 31.4% from three this season.

New Mexico State is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a loss and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS loss while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games following a loss by 20 or more points. Stephen F. Austin is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing 50 points or less in their previous game while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 home games against a team with a winning road record.

I get the case to be made for the Aggies here, as they’ve been solid on the road but they were also humbled by Sam Houston State last time out and Stephen F. Austin, while having some inconsistent results as of late, play their best ball at home and a lot of the recent issues have come on the road. I also think this is a bit of a statement game with SFA being the new kid on the block in the WAC. I’ll side with the Lumberjacks at home in this one.
