The Georgetown Hoyas will travel to Gampel Pavilion to take on the 20th ranked UConn Huskies this Tuesday night in College Basketball action.

The Georgetown Hoyas lost their 6th straight game and dropped to 6-10 on the season after being defeated by the 11th ranked Villanova Wildcats, 85-74, this past Saturday. Georgetown led by a 40-37 margin at halftime, however, the Hoyas had no answers on the defensive end for Villanova in the 2nd half and could not fight back after the Wildcats took a 68-60 lead with 4:53 left in regulation. Georgetown shot 44.6% from the field & 33.3% from beyond the arc while allowing Villanova to shoot 53.6% from the field & 39.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Hoyas was Collin Holloway who had 25 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, & 1 block.

On the season, Georgetown is averaging 74.2 ppg on 42.1% shooting from the field. The Hoyas are averaging 8.3 three-pointers per game on 37.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Georgetown has been led by Aminu Mohammed (13.6 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.5 spg), Kaiden Rice (13.3 ppg, 3.1 rpg), Donald Carey (13.3 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 3.5 apg, 1.5 spg), & Dante Harris (12.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 4.6 apg, 1.7 spg).

Defensively, Georgetown is allowing their opponents to average 76.4 ppg on 45.0% shooting from the field. The Hoyas have a rebound margin of 3.9 and a turnover margin of -1.8.

The 20th ranked UConn Huskies won their 3rd straight game and improved to 13-4 on the season after defeating the Butler Bulldogs, 75-56, this past Thursday. UConn trailed by a 28-24 margin at halftime, however, the Huskies dominated Butler on both ends of the court in the 2nd half and had no trouble pulling away for the victory after taking a 57-47 lead with 6:16 left in regulation. UConn shot 45.2% from the field & 35.0% from beyond the arc while holding Butler to shoot 38.0% from the field & 21.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Huskies was Tyrese Martin who had 27 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, & 2 steals.

On the season, UConn is averaging 79.7 ppg on 44.3% shooting from the field. The Huskies are averaging 8.0 three-pointers per game on 35.9% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, UConn has been led by R.J. Cole (15.7 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 4.6 apg, 1.4 spg), Adama Sanogo (15.6 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 2.4 bpg), Tyrese Martin (14.2 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.8 apg), & Andre Jackson (7.8 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.3 spg).

Defensively, UConn is holding their opponents to an average of 64.3 ppg on 38.6% shooting from the field. The Huskies have a rebound margin of 8.0 and a turnover margin of 1.9.

The Hoyas are 2-4 ATS in their last 6 games & 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. Connecticut. The Huskies are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games & 7-1 ATS in their last 8 Tuesday games.

Georgetown has been led by their offense which ranks 123rd in scoring offense, 109th in three-pointers made per game, & 26th in 3P-FG%, however, the Hoyas defense has struggled and comes into this game ranked just 322nd in scoring defense & 282nd in defensive FG%. UConn has been solid on both ends of the court this season and come into this game ranked 24th in scoring offense, 66th in scoring defense, & 17th in defensive FG%.

UConn continues to pile up wins and climb in the AP rankings, however, this is just a huge number to cover, even if it’s coming against a Georgetown team that has struggled this season. Georgetown has been competitive in their last two games vs. Providence & Villanova and as I think the offense can find some success against the tough UConn defense, I think the play here to take the Hoyas and the points. Good Luck!
