The Richmond Spiders and the Rhode Island Rams meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Ryan Center. Richmond is currently 12-7 this year. The Spiders beat La Salle in their last outing. As for Rhode Island, they’re 12-5 and lost to George Washington in their most recent game. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Richmond hit a 10-7 run to start the season. The losses in that time were to Utah State, Drake, Maryland, Mississippi State, Saint Joseph’s, Saint Louis and Davidson. In the last pair the Spiders have gotten wins over Fordham and La Salle.

On Saturday versus La Salle, Richmond scored 31 points in the first half and 33 more in the second on the way to a solid 64-56 win. Nathan Cayo and Grant Golden each scored 18 points, combining for nine rebounds as well.

Over on the Rhode Island side, they lost just three of their first games this year. Those defeats came courtesy of Tulsa, Florida Gulf Coast and Providence. Since then it’s been a 3-2 run bookended by losses to Davidson and George Washington.

In Saturday’s matchup versus George Washington, the Rams had a 33-25 lead at the break. Rhode Island faded 38-28 from there in a tough 63-61 loss. Leading scorer Jeremy Sheppard put up 12 points with one rebound and two assists.

The Rams are 1-5 ATS in their last six Tuesday games and the over is 6-2 in their last eight after an ATS loss. The under is 11-4 in Rhode Island’s last 15 Tuesday games.

Meanwhile, the Spiders are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five Tuesday games. The over is 4-1 in Richmond’s last five overall.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Rhode Island here. The Rams had a bad second half against George Washington in their last outing and ended up giving away the game. Rhode Island shot a reasonable 42.3 percent from the floor, but hit just 2-of-19 (10.5 percent) on 3-point shots. The Rams have been on a scoring lull over their last couple of games, but generally they’re a solid offensive team. This should be a fun matchup, but I think Rhode Island can bounce back for a cover.
