The Louisville Cardinals and the Virginia Cavaliers meet in college basketball action from the John Paul Jones Arena on Monday night.

The Louisville Cardinals will look to bounce back after a 4th loss in their last five games after an 82-70 loss at the hands of Louisville last time out. Noah Locke leads the Cardinals in scoring with 10.5 PPG while Malik Williams has 10 PPG with a team-high 8.6 RPG to lead Louisville on the glass this year and to make up the other half of the pair of double-digit scorers for Louisville so far this season. Jarrod West also has a team-high 3.2 APG as well on the year. As a team, Louisville is averaging 69.3 PPG on 42.5% shooting from the field, 32% from three and 68.9% from the foul line while allowing 67.8 PPG on 41.1% shooting from the field and 32.8% from three this season.

The Virginia Cavaliers will try to find some consistency after alternating wins and losses in each of their last six games after a 77-63 loss to NC State last time out. Jayden Gardner leads the Cavaliers in scoring and rebounding with 13.9 PPG and 6.8 RPG while Armaan Franklin has 12.3 PPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Virginia this season. Kihei Clark has 8.9 PPG with 4.1 APG while Reece Beekman also has a team-high 4.6 APG as well this season. As a team, Virginia is averaging 62.5 PPG on 44.9% shooting from the field, 33.3% from three and 71.9% from the foul line while allowing 59.7 PPG on 42% shooting from the field and 35.6% from three this season.

Louisville is 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 road games and 0-5-1 ATS in their last.6 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games following a loss. Virginia is 3-11 ATS in their last 14 home games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a loss while the over is 7-2 in their last 9 games against a team with a winning record.

I get the allure for points with the Cardinals as Virginia really hasn’t blown anyone away as of late. However, Louisville has been far from impressive themselves if we’re being honest and while we haven’t seen the same success from Virginia’s group, this is still a solid unit for Tony Bennett and I think that the Cavaliers find a way to bang out a win and cover here.
