The Holy Cross Crusaders and the American Eagles meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Bender Arena. Holy Cross is sitting at 3-14 this year. The Crusaders lost to Bucknell in their last game. As for American, they’re 5-13 and coming off a loss to Lafayette. Holy Cross went 2-4 over their first six games this year, notching wins over Regis and Mount St. Vincent. The Crusaders would then hit an eight-game losing skid before another win over Lafayette. Since then it’s been losses to Lehigh and Bucknell.

In the Bucknell matchup, the Crusaders trailed by four points at halftime. Holy Cross scored 33 points from there but ended up losing 68-65. Gerrale Gates was the top contributor for the Crusaders, doubling up on 32 points and 13 rebounds.

Over on the American side, they won their first two games over Marist and William & Mary this year, then hit a seven-game losing streak before another two victories. It’s been a 1-6 stretch since then, culminating in a loss to Lafayette on Monday.

In the Lafayette matchup, the Eagles were outscored 37-29 in the first half and 32-27 in the second for a 69-56 loss. Matt Rogers was the top American scorer on 12 points and eight boards. Johnny O’Neil put up 11 points with five rebounds as well.

The Eagles are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall and the over is 5-2 in their last seven Wednesday games. The over is 8-3 in American’s last 11 as an underdog.

Meanwhile, the Crusaders are 5-12 ATS in their last 17 Wednesday games and 2-6 ATS in the last eight after an ATS loss. Holy Cross is 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Holy Cross I suppose. There’s not a ton of intrigue in this game, but if nothing else it should be competitive. The Crusaders have hit 69 or more points in three of their last four games and should put up a decent total here. American has been at 66 points or below in six of their last seven, so if Holy Cross can get off to a good start I think they’ll be okay on a cover.
