The Canisius Golden Griffins won their 2nd straight game and improved to 7-12 on the season after defeating the Saint Peter’s Peacocks, 63-60, this past Sunday. Canisius was solid defensively against Saint Peter’s and was able to secure the victory later after a Scott Hitchon three-pointer with 1:47 left in regulation gave the Golden Griffins a 61-60 lead. Canisius shot 42.2% from the field & 42.1% from beyond the arc while holding Saint Peter’s to 36.8% shooting from the field & 26.7% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Golden Griffins was Ahamadou Fofana who had 15 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, & 2 steals.

On the season, Canisius is averaging 69.8 ppg on 39.9% shooting from the field. The Golden Griffins are averaging 7.8 three-pointers per game on 30.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Canisius has been led by Malek Green (12.3 ppg, 5.3 rpg), Armon Harried (11.5 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.6 apg), Jordan Henderson (10.2 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.1 spg), & Ahamadou Fofana (9.1 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 3.5 apg).

Defensively, Canisius is allowing their opponents to average 72.4 ppg on 45.8% shooting from the field. The Golden Griffins have a rebound margin of -2.5 and a turnover margin of 1.4.

The Monmouth Hawks won their 2nd straight game and improved to 12-6 on the season after defeating the Manhattan Jaspers, 78-62, this past Sunday. Monmouth led by a 35-31 margin at halftime and had no trouble pulling away for the victory in the 2nd half after taking a 67-48 lead with 7:27 left in regulation. Monmouth shot 43.3% from the field & 29.2% from beyond the arc while holding Manhattan to just 35.6% from the field & 25.9% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Hawks was Marcus McClary who had 18 points, 7 rebounds, & 4 assits.

On the season, Monmouth is averaging 71.1 ppg on 43.7% shooting from the field. The Hawks are averaging 6.3 three-pointers per game on 33.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Monmouth has been led by George Papas (15.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1.3 spg), Shavar Reynolds (14.9 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 2.2 apg), Walker Miller (14.5 ppg, 6.0 rpg), & Marcus McClary (10.1 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.4 apg).

Defensviely, Monmouth is allowing their opponents to average 68.1 ppg on 39.5% shooting from the field. The Hawks have a rebound margin of 2.8 and a turnover margin of -0.7.

The Golden Griffins are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games & 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games vs. Monmouth. The Hawks are 15-3 ATS in their last 18 games & 10-2 ATS in their last 12 home games.

Canisius has struggled on both ends of the court this season as the Golden Griffins come into this game ranked just 218th in scoring offense, 327th in FG%, 270th in scoring defense, & 311th in defensive FG%. Monmouth has been led by their defense which ranks 160th in scoring defense, 29th in defensive FG%, & 119th in rebound margin, however, the offense has been less than average and currently rank just t-189th in scoring offense, 206th in FG%, & 212th in 3P-FG%.

Monmouth is a solid team, however, Canisius has been playing well as of late and despite being 0-9 on the road, has shown that they have some talent as they have wins over Buffalo & Florida Gulf Coast. Monmouth has been inconsistent this season, which we saw with back-to-back road losses to Saint Peter’s & Marist and although I think the Hawks get the win here, I think Canisius does enough with the points to get us a cover. Good Luck!
