The IUPUI Jaguars will travel to Calihan Hall to take on the Detroit Mercy Titans this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The IUPUI Jaguars lost their 12th straight game and dropped to 1-17 on the season after being defeated by the Northern Kentucky Norse, 60-41, this past Saturday. IUPUI struggled on both ends of the court against Northern Kentucky and could not fight back after going into halftime trailing by a 33-13 margin. IUPUI shot 37.8% from the field & 36.4% from beyond the arc while allowing Northern Kentucky to shoot 40.8% & 39.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Jaguars was Bakari LaStrap who had 11 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, & 2 steals.

On the season, IUPUI is averaging 50.3 ppg on 37.4% shooting from the field. The Jaguars are averaging 5.1 three-pointers per game on 27.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, IUPUI has been led by B.J. Maxwell (10.8 ppg, 4.4 rpg), Bakari LaStrap (7.1 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 2.1 apg), Azariah Seay (6.4 ppg, 2.9 rpg), & Mike DePersia (5.0 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 2.6 apg).

Defensively, IUPUI is allowing their opponents to average 67.6 ppg on 44.5% from the field. The Jaguars have a rebound margin of -2.4 and a turnover margin of -3.4.

The Detroit Mercy Titans won their 2nd straight game and improved to 7-10 on the season after defeating the UIC Flames, 80-67, this past Thursday. Detroit Mercy was outstanding on the offensive end against UIC and was able to pull away in the 2nd half for the victory after taking a 64-52 lead with 5:56 left in regulation. Detroit Mercy shot 48.3% from the field & 52.4% from beyond the arc while allowing UIC to shoot 42.9% from the field & 36.4% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Titans was Antoine Davis who had 18 points, 4 rebounds, & 9 assists.

On the season, Detroit Mercy is averaging 69.2 ppg on 42.7% shooting from the field. The Titans are averaging 9.8 three-pointers per game on 36.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Detroit Mercy has been led by Antoine Davis (24.0 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 5.1 apg, 1.2 spg), Madut Akec (14.1 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.6 spg), Matt Johnson (6.9 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 1.4 apg), & Kevin McAdoo (6.5 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 1.5 apg).

Defensively, Detroit Mercy is allowing their opponents to average 69.3 ppg on 45.3% shooting from the field. The Titans have a rebound margin of -1.4 and a turnover margin of 0.8.

The Jaguars are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games & 3-5 ATS in their last 8 road games. The Titans are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games & 6-1 ATS in their last 7 Saturday games.

IUPUI has really struggled on both ends of the court this season and come into this game ranked just 350th in scoring offense, 348th in FG%, & 269th in defensive FG%. Detroit Mercy ranks only 233rd in scoring offense & 187th in scoring defense, however, the Titans have been a solid from beyond the arc as they currently rank 19th in three-pointers per game & 49th in 3P-FG%.

IUPUI is one of the worst teams in College Basketball and despite getting over 20 points in this one, I just can’t back the Jaguars as this is a team that just can’t score the basketball. Detroit Mercy is a perfect 4-0 at home this season and as I think Antoine Davis and the Titans offense will be able to do plenty of damage from beyond the arc, I think Detroit Mercy wins this one by 25+ points and covers this large home spread. Good Luck!
