The San Jose State Spartans and the New Mexico Lobos meet in college basketball action from the Pit on Friday night.

The San Jose State Spartans will try to snap a six-game losing streak after a 63-53 loss to Air Force last time out. Omari Moore leads the Spartans across the board with 13.9 PPG, 5.5 RPG and 4.6 APG while Trey Anderson has 9.9 PPG with 5.2 RPG and Trey Smith has 9.2 PPG as well on the year. As a team, San Jose State is averaging 67.6 PPG on 43% shooting from the field, 37% from three and 67.5% from the foul line while allowing 71 PPG on 44.8% shooting from the field and 34.8% from three this season.

The New Mexico Lobos will look to bounce back from a 65-60 loss to Fresno State to make it seven straight losses. Jamal Mashburn Jr. leads the Lobos in scoring with 17.8 PPG while Jaelen House has 16.3 PPG with a team-high 4.8 APG, leading the Lobos in the assist department. KJ Jenkins has 10.4 PPG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for New Mexico so far this season. Jay Allen-Tovar also has 4.8 RPG this season. As a team, New Mexico is averaging 76.8 PPG on 43.5% shooting from the field, 34.6% from three and 73.5% from the foul line while allowing 78.2 PPG on 45.4% shooting from the field and 33.1% from three this season.

San Jose State is 13-29-2 ATS in their last 44 road games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a loss. New Mexico is 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 14-2 in their last 16 Friday games.

I get the case to be made for a team being favored at home, but New Mexico’s struggled over the last month plus, and while San Jose State is no world-beater, the Spartans have done a good job being competitive as of late and I think this is a spot where they keep it within this overpriced number. Give me the Spartans and the points here.
