The 19th ranked LSU Tigers will travel to Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena to take on the TCU Horned Frogs this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The 19th ranked LSU Tigers snapped a 3-game losing streak and improved to 16-4 on the season after defeating the Texas A&M Aggies, 70-64, this past Wednesday. LSU trailed by a 62-57 margin with just 3:47 left in regulation, however, the Tigers were outstanding on both ends of the court down the stretch and was able to pull away for the victory after closing out the final 1:49 of regulation on a 9-0 run. LSU shot 42.6% from the field & 46.2% from beyond the arc while allowing Texas A&M to shoot 40.4% from the field & 34.6% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Tigers was Brandon Murray who had 21 points, 4 rebounds, & 3 assists in 32 minutes from off the bench.

On the season, LSU is averaging 73.2 ppg on 44.3% shooting from the field. The Tigers are averaging 6.7 three-pointers per game on 32.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, LSU has been led by Tari Eason (15.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.5 spg, 1.1 bpg), Darius Days (13.1 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 1.5 spg), Xavier Pinson (10.9 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 4.6 apg, 2.1 spg), & Brandon Murray (10.3 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.2 spg). Darius Days & Xavier Pinson missed LSU’s last game and should be considered questionable for this matchup.

Defensively, LSU is holding their opponents to an average of 58.4 ppg on 35.9% shooting from the field. The Tigers have a rebound margin of 4.8 and a turnover margin of 3.5.

The TCU Horned Frogs dropped to 13-4 on the season after being defeated by the Texas Longhorns, 73-50, this past Tuesday. TCU had no answers on the offensive end against the tough Texas defense and could not fight back after going into halftime trailing by a 43-23 margin. TCU shot just 36.0% from the field & 12.5% from beyond the arc while allowing Texas to shoot 44.6% from the field & 44.4% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Horned Frogs was Mike Miles who had 14 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assist, & 1 steal.

On the season, TCU is averaging 68.4 ppg on 42.5% shooting from the field. The Horned Frogs are averaging 5.9 three-pointers per game on 30.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, TCU has been led by Mike Miles (15.4 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 4.0 apg, 1.3 spg), Emanuel Miller (10.1 ppg, 7.0 rpg), Chuck O’Bannon Jr. (9.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.1 apg), & Damion Baugh (9.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 4.1 apg, 1.6 spg).

Defensively, TCU is holding their opponents to an average of 61.4 ppg on 40.3% shooting from the field. The Horned Frogs have a rebound margin of 9.9 and a turnover margin of -0.6.

The Tigers are 14-6 ATS in their last 20 games, however, are just 2-2 ATS on the road this season. The Horned Frogs are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games & 9-6-2 ATS overall on the season.

LSU has been led by their defense which ranks 7th in scoring defense & 1st in defensive FG%, however, the Tigers can struggle on the offensive end as they currently rank just 144th in scoring offense & 169th in FG%. TCU is also led by their defense which ranks 26th in scoring defense, 49th in defensive FG%, & 3rd in rebound margin, however, like LSU, can struggle to put points up on the board as the Horned Frogs rank just 256th in scoring offense, 256th in FG%, & 307th in 3P-FG%.

LSU is a solid team, however, it’s hard to trust the Tigers right now, especially when weren’t not sure that two of their best players in the Darius Days & Xavier Pinson might not be 100%. LSU is just 1-3 on the road this season and between the fact that TCU has been impressive at home and have a defense that should keep this a low-scoring, competitive game, I think the play here is to take TCU and the points. Good Luck!
