Tulane vs Wichita State 1/29/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Wichita State Shockers and the Tulane Green Wave meet in college basketball action from the Devlin Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.

The Wichita State Shockers come into this one looking to build on their 84-79 win over UCF last time out. Tyson Etienne leads the Shockers in scoring with 14.3 PPG with 2.4 RPG while Morris Udeze has 11.6 PPG with 5.7 RPG and Ricky Council IV has 11.1 PPG with 5.5 RPG to round out the group of double-digit scorers for Wichita State this season. Craig Porter Jr. has a team-high 3.2 APG as well on the year. As a team, Wichita State is averaging 68.6 PPG on 39.9% shooting from the field, 31.1% from three and 74.4% from the foul line while allowing 65.1 PPG on 41.1% shooting from the field and 30.1% from three this season.

The Tulane Green Wave will hope to build on a 97-63 win over Tulsa in their last game. Jalen Cook leads Tulane in scoring and assists with 19.6 PPG along with 3.6 APG while Jaylen Forbes has 15.6 PPG with 4.9 RPG and Kevin Cross has 13.8 PPG with a team-high 6.1 RPG and 3.3 APG to lead the Green Wave in rebounding and to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Tulane so far this season. As a team, Tulane is averaging 71.3 PPG on 42.1% shooting from the field, 33.6% from three and 73% from the foul line while allowing 73.4 PPG on 44.9% shooting from the field and 36.8% from three this season.

Wichita State is 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games as a favorite and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 Saturday games while the under is 11-4 in their last 15 games as a favorite. Tulane is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games against a team with a winning record.

I get the case to be made for the Shockers here after they snapped their losing streak, but I’m still not sold on Wichita State as we’ve yet to really see those tactics be implemented away from home. Tulane’s been playing some of the best basketball in the AAC so far this conference season, which has caught a lot of people, myself included, by surprise and I think the Green Wave can pull off another one and get a win here so I’ll back Tulane at home in this one.
