The Pittsburgh Panthers will travel to Cassell Coliseum to take on the Virginia Tech Hokies this Monday night in College Basketball action.

The Virginia Tech Hokies (13-10) will look to make it two straight win over the Pittsburgh Panthers (8-15) after Virginia Tech defeated Pittsburgh by a 76-71 margin this past Saturday. Virginia Tech dominated Pittsburgh in the 1st half, going into halftime with a 49-22 lead, however, the Hokies did hold off a Pittsburgh come back attempt as the Panthers did make it only a 6-point game with 8:22 left in regulation. Virginia Tech shot 57.8% from the field & 53.8% from beyond the arc while Pittsburgh shot 56.8% from the field & 50.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Hokies was Strom Murphy who had 20 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, & 1 steal while the Panthers were led by Femi Odukale who had 25 points, 3 assists, & 6 steals.

On the season, Pittsburgh is averaging 62.5 ppg on 41.6% shooting from the field. The Panthers are averaging 5.2 three-pointers per game on 31.3% from beyond the arc. Offensively, Pittsburgh has been led by John Hugley (14.7 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 1.3 apg), Jamarius Burton (13.5 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.0 spg), Femi Odukale (12.6 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.0 spg), Mouhamadou Gueye (8.8 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.2 apg).

Defensively, Pittsburgh is holding their opponents to an average of 62.7 ppg on 42.7% shooting from the field. The Hokies have a rebound margin of 1.0 and a turnover margin of 1.0.

On the season, Virginia Tech is averaging 70.8 ppg on 47.7% shooting from the field. The Hokies are averaging 9.2 three-pointers per game on 41.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Virginia Tech has been led by Keve Aluma (15.2 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 2.0 apg), Justyn Mutts (10.7 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.3 spg), Hunter Cattoor (10.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.0 spg), & Nahiem Alleyne (10.2 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 1.8 apg).

Defensively, Virginia Tech is holding their opponents to an average of 62.7 ppg on 42.7% shooting from the field. The Hokies have a rebound margin of 1.0 and a turnover margin of 1.0.

The Panthers are 3-6 ATS in their last 9 games & 3-7 ATS in their last 10 Monday games. The Hokies are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games, however, are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 Monday games.

Pittsburgh has been led by their defense this season which ranks 113th in scoring defense & 84th in rebound margin, however, the Panthers have really struggled on the offensive end and currently ranks just 335th in scoring offense, 299th in FG%, & 292nd in 3P-FG%. Virginia Tech has been solid on both ends of the court this season and come into this game ranked 27th in FG%, 2nd in 3P-FG%, & 29th in scoring defense.

Depending on which side you were on in the first matchup of these two teams on Saturday, its either an incredible ATS victory (Pittsburgh) or heartbreaking ATS loss (Virginia Tech) as Pittsburgh was able to fight back from a 27-point halftime deficit to cover with the points. Luckily for us, we had Pittsburgh, however, I’m changing sides for the rematch, largely due to fact that Pittsburgh can really struggled to score the basketball (ranked 335th in scoring offense & 299th in FG%) and is just 1-7 on the road this season. Virginia Tech is a talented team on both ends of the court as I think they got out to another big lead and do a better job of protecting on their home court, I think the play here is to take Virginia Tech to cover this large home spread. Good Luck!
