The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and the UTSA Roadrunners meet Saturday in college basketball action from UTSA Convocation Center. Western Kentucky is coming off a Thursday game versus Florida Atlantic. The Hilltoppers ended up winning that one by seven points. As for the Roadrunners, they’re 8-17 on the year and lost to Middle Tennessee in their last game. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Western Kentucky hit a 10-6 stretch to start the year. The next five games were all losses to North Texas, FAU, Florida International, UAB and Middle Tennessee, however. The Hilltoppers came back with wins over Charlotte and Old Dominion in the next pair.

On Thursday versus Florida Atlantic, the Hilltoppers notched a 30-27 run in the first half and a 46-42 advantage in the second for a 76-69 victory. Camron Justice led the way on 19 points, and Dayvion McKnight put up 18 points with four assists.

Over on the UTSA side, their year began at a decent 6-4. The Roadrunners haven’t been able to win consecutive games since then, though. UTSA has lost to Florida Atlantic, Rice, North Texas and Middle Tennessee in their last quartet.

In the Middle Tennessee matchup back on Monday, the Roadrunners were outscored 32-38 in the first half and 43-46 from there in an 84-75 loss. Top scorer Jordan Ivy-Curry finished with 19 points, and Jacob Germany added 16 points with nine boards.

The over is 4-1 in the Roadrunners’ last five overall and they’re 1-4 ATS in the last five Saturday games. UTSA is 5-2 ATS in their last seven after a straight-up loss.
Meanwhile, the Hilltoppers are 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS win and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five overall. The over is 5-2 in WKU’s last seven Saturday games.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Western Kentucky here. The Hilltoppers were looking pretty sketchy during their recent five-game losing streak, but they’ve turned things around. Western Kentucky has hit 76 or more points in each of their last three games (all wins).
As for UTSA, they’ve managed to hit 73 or more points just four times during this 1-10 stretch and they’re also giving up some big points totals to decent offensive teams. I don’t think the Roadrunners have the gas to keep up if WKU gets going.
