The IUPUI Jaguars and the Robert Morris Colonials meet Thursday in college basketball action from UPMC Events Center. IUPUI holds a 2-22 record overall this year. The Jaguars lost to UIC in their last game. As for Robert Morris, they’re 7-19 on the season and coming off a win over Youngstown State. IUPUI has had a rough year, to put it mildly. The Jaguars’ only two wins came versus Spalding on November 23 and East-West University on January 31. Since then it’s been losses to Youngstown State, Robert Morris, Fort Wayne, Cleveland State and UIC.
In the UIC game on Monday, the Jaguars held a 28-22 advantage by the break. IUPUI was outscored 26-35 from there in a 57-54 loss. BJ Maxwell was the team’s top scorer with his 14 points, seven rebounds and three steals.
Over on the Robert Morris side, they managed just there wins in their first 19 games but things have gotten much better since then. The Colonials are 4-3 in their last seven, beating Milwaukee, Green Bay, IUPUI and Youngstown State in that time.
On Sunday versus Youngstown State, the Colonials had a five-point deficit heading into the second half. Robert Morris scored 45 points from there in a 73-68 comeback win. Kahliel Spear managed 27 points with seven boards in the victory.
The Colonials are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five overall and 3-10 ATS in the last 13 after an ATS win. Robert Morris is 5-2-2 ATS in their last nine Thursday games.
Meanwhile, the Jaguars are 6-15 ATS in their last 21 overall and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS win. The under is 6-2 in IUPUI’s last eight overall.
PICK: I’m going to stay with Robert Morris. There’s admittedly not very much intrigue in this matchup due to both teams’ records, though. In any case, Robert Morris has been doing much better since mid-January or so. That said, the Colonials are still finishing below 70 points with regularity. As for IUPUI, they lost 66-49 at home the last time these teams met up back on February 5. Considering the Jaguars haven’t scored more than 57 points in five straight, I’d say they’ll have a hard time keeping up here.
