Dartmouth vs Cornell 2/18/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Cornell Big Red and the Dartmouth Big Green meet Friday in college basketball action from Leede Arena. Cornell is 13-8 on the year so far. The Big Red lost to Brown in their last outing. Cornell managed a nice 8-1 start this season, then hit a 1-5 stretch in December and January. Since then the Red are 4-2 with victories over Harvard, Brown, Princeton and Columbia alongside losses to Penn and Brown in those games. 

Matched up against Brown last weekend, Cornell trailed by eight points going into halftime. The Big Red made a second-half run but came up short in an 81-80 loss. Chris Manon led the team with his 17 points and seven rebounds. 

Over on the Dartmouth side, they went 3-1 to start the year. The Green would win just one of their next 12 games, however. After another win over Columbia, Dartmouth would fall to Yale, Brown and Princeton in the next trio. 

Last weekend versus Princeton, Dartmouth was drilled 13-43 in the first half and 27-42 in the second half on the way to a rough 85-40 blowout defeat. The only double-digit scorer on the team was Aaryn Rai with 12 points and seven boards. 

Dartmouth is 3-0-1 ATS in their last four at home and 5-1 ATS in their last six overall. The Green are 5-1 ATS in their last six after a straight-up loss. 

Meanwhile, the Red are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight after a straight-up loss. The under is 4-1 in Cornell’s last five road games. 

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Dartmouth here. Sure, the Green were blown out by a good Princeton team in their last outing, but they had been playing competitive in the previous five games. Dartmouth was just 1-4 in that time but they were within four points in each of the losses. 

The last time these teams met up, Cornell took a 79-71 win at home on January 2. Dartmouth should be more comfortable in this one, and if they can shake off the blowout loss I think the Green can hang around well enough to get the cover.
