The Drexel Dragons and the Elon Phoenix meet Saturday in college basketball action from Schar Center. Drexel is coming off a Thursday game versus William & Mary. In that one the Dragons took a 15-point win. As for Elon, they played Delaware in their Thursday game. The Phoenix ended up losing by nine. Drexel hit a 5-5 start to the year, then the team wasn’t able to play a game from December 14 to January 3. The Dragons have been on a choppy run since then; they hit a 3-2 run to start February, losing to Hofstra and Charleston in that stretch.

On Thursday versus William & Mary, the Dragons hit a 34-24 run in the first half. Drexel scored 38 more points from there in an eventual 72-57 victory. Camren Wynter led the team on 14 points with four rebounds and three assists.

Over on the Elon side, they haven’t been able to find much consistency at all this year. The Phoenix went into February at 6-16, then hit a 2-3 run in their first five February games. The losses came to Charleston, Towson and Hofstra during that time.

Matched up against Delaware on Thursday, the Phoenix were outscored 18-25 in the first half and 44-46 in the second during an eventual 71-62 loss. Leading Elon scorer Darius Burford put up 21 points, and Hunter McIntosh added 16 points.

The under is 5-2 in the Phoenix’s last seven Saturday games and 12-6 in their last 19 overall. The over is 18-8 in Elon’s last 26 as a home underdog.

Meanwhile, Drexel is 6-2 ATS in their last eight road games and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 Saturday games. The Dragons are 9-4 ATS in the last 13 overall.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Drexel. The Dragons have been spotty in the win column lately but overall they’re staying competitive against comparable teams. Drexel has scored 72 or more points in five of the last six outings, going 4-2 in that time.

The last time these teams met up back on January 20, the Dragons secured a 77-49 win at home. The Phoenix will likely have a better showing here, but overall I think it’s still Drexel’s cover if they want it.
