The Virginia Tech Hokies and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets meet Wednesday in college basketball action from McCamish Pavilion. Virginia Tech is 16-11 on the year right now. The Hokies lost to North Carolina in their last outing. As for Georgia Tech, they’re a mirror at 11-16 and coming off a loss to Syracuse. Virginia Tech has been a meandering team this year in the record column. The Hokies were sitting at 10-10 back in late January but then surged on a nice six-game win streak. That run was snapped by North Carolina in Virginia Tech’s last game, though.

In the Saturday matchup versus the Tar Heels, Virginia Tech was down by eight points by halftime. The Hokies kept the pace from there but ended up with a 65-57 loss. Keve Aluma was tops on the team with 16 points and nine rebounds.

Over on the Georgia Tech side, they’ve had similar issues with consistency during these tough conference games. The Yellow Jackets are currently on a 1-4 run. they’ve fallen to Miami, Virginia, NC State and Syracuse in that time.

On Monday versus Syracuse, the Yellow Jackets kept the pace the whole way and needed overtime to decide the game. Georgia Tech had a rough 74-73 loss at game’s end. Rodney Howard (19 points; 10 boards) and Jordan Usher (14 points, 13 boards) both doubled.

The Jackets are 3-11-1 ATS in the last 15 at home and 40-19-1 ATS in their last 60 Wednesday games. The over is 5-1 in Georgia Tech’s last six Wednesday games.

Meanwhile, the Hokies are 2-6 ATS in their last eight road games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall. The over is 4-0 in Virginia Tech’s last four road games.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets have certainly had a rough go of things during this 1-4 stretch. They’ve hit 68 points or more in three of the five games though, so they’re still scoring pretty well in comparable matchups.

The Yellow Jackets are really going to have to push to find some room against Virginia Tech; the Hokies have given up 65 or fewer points in each of their last four games. Still, with the home push and a few early shots falling I think Georgia Tech has a decent chance here.
