The Kent State Golden Flashes and the Central Michigan Chippewas meet Saturday in college basketball action from McGuirk Arena. Kent State is 18-9 on the year so far and coming off a win over Ball State. As for Central Michigan, they played Miami OH in their last outing on Thursday. In that one the Chippewas won by 14 points. Kent State had to scramble during the early part of this year, and the team was sitting at 9-9 back in late January. The Flashes have hit a nine-game win streak since then, however. Kent State has beaten Toledo, Ohio and Ball State in the last trio.

On Tuesday versus Ball State, the Flashes were down 36-39 by the break. Kent State surged on a 57-43 second-half run for the 93-82 comeback win. Sincere Carry “carried” the team with his whopping 42 points, six assists and three steals in the victory.

Over on the Central Michigan side, they haven’t had much success this year outside of a 4-1 run back in late January/early February. The Chippewas lost to Ohio, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Toledo and Ohio in the next five.

On Thursday versus Miami OH, the Chippewas were down 33-37 by halftime. Central Michigan surged on a 50-32 run from there in an 83-69 comeback win. Kevin Miller led the team with his 24 points, and Brian Taylor doubled with 15 points and 11 boards.

The Chippewas are 21-8-1 ATS in their last 30 Saturday games and the under is 6-2 in their last eight after an ATS win. The under is 7-1 in Central Michigan’s last eight at home.
Meanwhile, the Flashes are 16-5 ATS in their last 21 Saturday games and 4-0 ATS in their last four road games. The under is 11-4 in Kent State’s last 15 road games.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Kent State here. The Flashes were a sketchy team earlier in the year but to their credit they’ve looked great during this nine-game win streak. Kent State has hit 72 or more points in eight of those outings, so their offense is working well right now.

The last time these teams met up, Kent State was shocked with a 72-69 home loss on December 29. I like the Flashes to get some revenge here and power out a convincing cover.
