The Purdue Boilermakers and the Michigan State Spartans meet Saturday in college basketball action from Breslin Center. Purdue is 24-4 on the year so far. The Boilermakers beat Rutgers in their last game. As for Michigan State, they’re sitting at 18-9 and coming off a loss to Iowa. Purdue hasn’t lost consecutive games all year; they’ve been a highly consistent team even in the tough Big Ten matchups. Since their last lost to Michigan, the Boilermakers have taken out Maryland, Northwestern and Rutgers in succession.

Back on Sunday in the Rutgers game, the Boilermakers got off to a 45-36 lead by halftime. Purdue kept it up with a 39-36 second half in an 84-72 win. Jaden Ivey was tops in scoring on 25 points with four assists and two boards.

Over on the Michigan State side, their year started out at 14-2 overall. The Spartans have only been able to win consecutive outings once since then, however. The last three games have all been losses to Penn State, Illinois and Iowa.

Matched up against Iowa on Tuesday, the Spartans were down 32-46 by the break. Michigan State fell further back on a 28-40 run in an 86-60 blowout loss. The only double-digit team scorer was Malik Hall on 17 points and five boards.

The Spartans are 1-6 ATS in their last seven overall and 2-6 ATS in their last eight at home. Michigan State is 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss.

Meanwhile, Purdue is 0-2-2 ATS in their last four overall and the over is 11-5 in their last 16 overall. The over is 9-4 in Purdue’s last 13 Saturday games.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Purdue here. The Boilermakers are looking great these days; they’ve got just the one bad loss at Michigan in this current 9-1 run. Purdue has hit 70 or more points in eight of those nine victories as well. As for Michigan State, they’ve been at 65 points or fewer in five of their last seven games. The familiar home atmosphere will certainly help the Spartans in this one, but I don’t think they’ll be able to keep up with Purdue on the scoreboard.
