The Baylor Bears and the Texas Longhorns meet Monday in college basketball action from Frank Erwin Center. Baylor is currently 24-5 on the year. The Bears beat Kansas in their last game. As for Texas, they’re sitting at 21-8 and coming off a win over West Virginia. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Baylor kicked off the year at 15-0 overall, then took their only pair of consecutive losses to date. The Bears are on a 5-1 stretch right now, taking victories over Kansas State, Texas, TCU, Oklahoma State and Kansas in that time.

In the Kansas matchup on Saturday, the Bears were down by one point going into the second half. Baylor hit a 49-38 run from there in an 80-70 comeback victory. Tops in scoring was Flo Thamba with 18 points and nine rebounds in 23 minutes.

Over on the Texas side, they had a sketchy 1-3 run back in January but have been a very consistent team this year otherwise. The Longhorns are 3-1 in their last four games with wins over Oklahoma, TCU and West Virginia.

Matched up against West Virginia on Saturday, the Longhorns jumped out to a 43-37 lead by the break. Texas was outscored 39-44 from there but still held on for the 82-81 win. Timmy Allen led the way on his 26 points with 10 boards and three assists.

Texas is 1-4 ATS in their last five overall and 2-5 ATS in their last seven at home. The over is 5-1 in the Longhorns’ last six overall.

Meanwhile, the Bears are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 13-4-1 ATS in their last 18 after an ATS win. The over is 5-2 in Baylor’s last seven Monday games.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Texas here. You could make a good case either way, though. The Longhorns have generally been competitive lately; they’ve hit 75 or more points in three of their last four games and managed to stay with a good Texas Tech team a couple of weeks ago. The last time these squads met up, Baylor secured an 80-63 win at home on February 12. Texas has been effective at home over the last several outings, and I think the Longhorns will put together a better showing in this rematch. Should be a fun game to watch.
