The UCLA Bruins and the Washington Huskies meet Monday in college basketball action from Hec Edmundson Pavilion. UCLA is 21-6 on the year so far. The Bruins beat Oregon State in their most recent appearance. As for Washington, they’re sitting at 14-13 overall and coming off a win over Washington State. UCLA has remained quite consistent over the course of the season; the only bad stretch was a 1-3 run in early February. Since then the Bruins are 4-1 with victories over Washington State, Washington, Arizona State and Oregon State.
In the Oregon State game on Saturday, the Bruins didn’t have much trouble. UCLA scored 43 points in the first half and 51 more from there in a 94-55 blowout win. Tops in scoring was Tyger Campbell with 20 points and five assists.
Over on the Washington side, they’ve been fighting off the .500 mark for most of the year. The Huskies suffered a recent losing streak to Arizona, USC, UCLA and Washington State but bounced back Saturday with a win over Washington State.
In the Cougars rematch over the weekend, the Huskies were down 28-34 by halftime. Washington surged on a 50-36 run from there in a 78-70 comeback win. Terrell Brown led the team with his 25 points and six rebounds.
The Huskies are 5-1 ATS in the last six Monday games and 6-1 ATS in the last seven at home. Washington is 10-4 ATS in their last 14 overall.
Meanwhile, the Bruins are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and the under is 6-0 in their last six after an ATS win. The under is 9-3 in UCLA’s last 12 road games.
PICK: I’m going to stay with UCLA. The Bruins have been putting up some pretty good efforts against talented teams this month; they’ve hit 76 or more points in four of their last five victories. As for Washington, they’ve scored less than 70 points in three of their last five games.
The last time these teams saw each other, UCLA pulled off a 76-50 win at home on February 19. I like the Bruins to post another quality effort here as they bang out a cover.
