The American Eagles and the Holy Cross Crusaders meet Tuesday in Patriot League Tournament college basketball action from Hart Center. American is 9-21 this season and beat Loyola MD in their last game. As for Holy Cross, they’re 9-21 on the year as well. The Crusaders are coming off a loss to Army. American began the season on a 4-7 run and they haven’t been able to win consecutive games since then. The Eagles are 2-2 in the last four with losses to Colgate and Lehigh between wins over Army and Loyola MD in that stretch.

In the Saturday game versus Loyola MD, the Eagles posted a 35-14 lead by halftime.  American was outscored 30-41 from there and hung on for the 65-55 win. Stacy Beckton was the top scorer with 22 points and six boards.

Over on the Holy Cross side, they managed to win just three of their first 18 games this year. The Crusaders would hit a 5-1 stretch in January/February but have gone 1-5 since. The last three games have been losses to Lafayette, Colgate and Army.

Matched up against Army on Saturday, the Crusaders were within six points at halftime. Holy Cross was outscored 37-39 in the second in a 66-58 loss. Gerrale Gates led the way on a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

The Crusaders are 15-33 ATS in their last 48 at home and 14-3 ATS in their last 17 Tuesday games. Holy Cross is 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Eagles are 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS win and the over is 5-2 in their last seven Tuesday games. The under is 4-1 in American’s last five after a straight-up win.

PICK: I’m going with American here. The Eagles haven’t exactly been dynamos on the scoreboard lately; they’ve been at 65 or fewer points in five of their last six games. American has won both matchups between these teams, however; 67-49 on January 26 and 60-54 on February 14. This one’s likely to be another lower-scoring outing, and I think the Eagles can pull off a cover. Should be a good matchup if nothing else.
