The West Virginia Mountaineers will travel to the Lloyd Noble Center to take on the Oklahoma Sooners this Tuesday night in College Basketball action.

The West Virginia Mountaineers lost their 6th straight game and dropped to 14-15 on the season after being defeated by the 20th ranked Texas Longhorns, 82-81, this past Saturday. West Virginia led by a 64-54 margin midway through the 2nd half, however, the Mountaineers struggled defensively down the stretch and could not fight back after a Marcus Carr layup gave the Longhorns a 82-78 lead with 1:10 left in regulation. West Virginia shot 50.0% from the field & 50.0% from beyond the arc while allowing Texas to shoot 63.4% from the field & 50.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Mountaineers was Malik Curry who had 27 points, 1 rebound, & 2 steals.

On the season, West Virginia is averaging 68.8 ppg on 41.5% shooting from the field. The Mountaineers are averaging 6.3 three-pointers per game on 32.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, West Virginia has been led by Taz Sherman (18.3 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.3 spg), Sean McNeil (12.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 1.4 apg), Malik Curry (8.9 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.0 spg), & Jalen Bridges (8.6 ppg, 4.8 rpg).

Defensviely, West Virginia is allowing their opponents to average 68.5 ppg on 44.2% shooting from the field. The Mountaineers have a rebound margin of -4.1 and a turnover margin of 3.1.

The Oklahoma Sooners snapped a 4-game losing streak and improved to 15-14 on the season after defeating the Oklahoma State Cowboys, 66-62 (OT), this past Saturday. Oklahoma allowed Oklahoma State to fight back from a 48-35 deficit with just 5:49 let in regulation to force OT, however, the Sooners defense was solid down the stretch in OT and was able to hold off the Cowboys for the victory after taking a 64-62 lead with :36 seconds left in OT. Oklahoma shot 40.7% from the field & 33.3% from beyond the arc while allowing Oklahoma State to shoot 37.9% from the field & 33.3% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Sooners was Tanner Groves who had a double-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, & 1 steal.

On the season, Oklahoma is averaging 64.9 ppg on 44.1% shooting from the field. The Sooners are averaging 7.2 three-pointers per game on 33.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Oklahoma has been led by Tanner Groves (12.1 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.8 apg), Umoja Gibson (11.9 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.3 spg), Jordan Goldwire (10.2 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 3.4 apg, 1.6 spg), & Elijah Harkless (10.0 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.3 spg).

Defensviely, Oklahoma is holding their opponents to an average of 64.9 ppg on 44.1% shooting from the field. The Sooners have a rebound margin of 0.5 and a turnover margin of -0.7.

The Mountaineers are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games vs. Oklahoma. The Sooners are 3-6 ATS in their last 9 games & 7-13 ATS in their last 20 Big-12 games.

West Virginia has been led by their defense which ranks 157th in scoring defense & 31st in turnover margin, however, the Mountaineers have struggled on the offensive end as they come into this game ranked just 240th in scoring offense, 303rd in FG%, & 245thin 3P-FG%. Oklahoma has also been led by their defense which ranks 52nd in scoring defense, and although the offense ranks just 247th in scoring offense, the Sooners have shot the ball well from the field ranking 32nd in FG%.

West Virginia continues to struggle to close out games and it’s hard to imagine the Mountaineers finding much success in this one as they come into this game with just a 1-9 road record. Oklahoma has had no trouble picking up ATS wins recently against Oklahoma and as I think the Sooners defense is going to give West Virginia a bunch of trouble, I’m taking the Sooners to cover this mid-range home spread. Good Luck!
