The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will travel to Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall to take on the Indiana Hoosiers this Wednesday night in College Basketball action.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 16-12 on the season after being defeated by the 13th ranked Wisconsin Badgers, 66-61, this past Saturday. Rutgers fought back from a 33-24 halftime deficit to take a 51-50 lead in the 2nd half, however, the Scarlet Knights offense struggled down the stretch and could not fight back after the Badgers took a 59-55 lead with 4:46 left in regulation. Rutgers shot 45.3% from the field & 23.5% from beyond the arc while allowing Wisconsin to shoot 42.6% from the field & 45.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Scarlet Knights was Geo Baker who had 19 points, 1 rebound, 4 assists, & 1 steal.

On the season, Rutgers is averaging 68.1 ppg on 44.2% shooting from the field. The Scarlet Knights are averaging 6.0 three-pointers per game on 33.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Rutgers has been led by Ron Harper Jr. (15.6 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.1 spg), Geo Baker (12.2 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 3.9 apg, 1.1 spg), Clifford Omoruyi (11.7 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 1.2 bpg), & Paul Mulcahy (9.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 5.2 apg, 1.2 spg).

Defensively, Rutgers is holding their opponents to an average of 65.5 ppg on 41.5% shooting from the field. The Scarlet Knights have a rebound margin of 2.4 and a turnover margin of 0.5.

The Indiana Hoosiers won their 2nd straight game and improved to 18-10 on the season after defeating the Minnesota Golden Gophers, 84-79, this past Sunday. Indiana was outstanding on the offensive end against Minnesota and was able to hold off a late Golden Gophers charge after taking a 67-43 lead with 8:48 left in regulation. Indiana shot 55.6% from the field & 47.6% from beyond the arc while allowing Minnesota to shoot 46.6% from the field & 38.9% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Hoosiers was Xavier Johnson who had 24 points, 6 rebounds, & 8 assists.

On the season, Indiana is averaging 71.9 ppg on 46.0% shooting from the field. The Hoosiers are averaging 6.2 three-pointers per game on 34.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Indiana has been led by Trayce Jackson-Davis (17.4 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 2.0 apg, 2.5 bpg), Race Thompson (11.9 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.1 spg), Xavier Johnson (11.5 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 4.6 apg, 1.0 spg), & Parker Stewart (6.8 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 1.0 apg).

Defensively, Indiana is holding their opponents to an average of 65.3 ppg on 38.7% shooting from the field. The Hoosiers have a rebound margin of 3.4 and a turnover margin of -0.2.

The Scarlet Knights are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games & 4-1 ATS in their last 5 March games. The Hoosiers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games, however, are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as a favorite.

Rutgers certainly has a bunch of talent as we’ve seen in wins against Michigan State, Ohio State, & Purdue, however, the Scarlet Knights have struggled on the road this season, posting just a 3-9 road record, and can have issues scoring the basketball as they come into this game ranked just 255th in scoring offense, 180th in FG%, & t-205th in 3P-FG%. Indiana is a tough team to face on the road as the Hoosiers come into this game with a 14-3 record and as I think their defense, which ranks 65th in scoring defense & 14th in defensive FG%, will give the Scarlet Knights a bunch of trouble, I’m taking Indiana to cover this mid-range home spread. Good Luck!
