The Iowa Hawkeyes and the Michigan Wolverines meet Thursday in college basketball action from Crisler Center. Iowa is 21-8 overall this season. The Hawkeyes beat Northwestern in their last outing. As for Michigan, they’re 16-12 on the year and coming off a win over Michigan State. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Iowa started out the season on a nice 7-0 run, then hit a spotty stretch in December/January that left the team at 14-7 overall. Since then the Hawkeyes have gone 7-1. They’ve beaten Ohio State, Michigan State, Nebraska and Northwestern in the last quartet.

In the Northwestern game on Monday, the Hawkeyes got off to a 36-17 first-half lead. Iowa scored another 46 points from there, cruising to the 82-61 blowout win. Tops in scoring was Keegan Murray with 26 points and 18 rebounds.

Over on the Michigan side, they’ve had trouble maintaining form this year. The Wolverines haven’t won more than three straight games at any point. It’s been a 2-2 stretch for Michigan over the last four with victories against Rutgers and Michigan State.

On Tuesday versus Michigan State, the Wolverines held a commanding 44-28 lead after the first half. Michigan hit another 43 points in the second and won 87-70. Hunter Dickinson was the top team scorer with 33 points and nine rebounds.

The Wolverines are 3-13 ATS in the last 16 after an ATS win and 47-18-3 ATS in their last 68 Thursday games. The over is 4-1 in Michigan’s last five overall.

Meanwhile, the Hawkeyes are 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall and 2-5 ATS in their last seven Thursday games. The over is 5-2 in Iowa’s last seven road games.

PICK: I’m going to try Iowa here. The Hawkeyes are on a nice 7-1 run right now; the team’s only blemish in that time was an 84-79 loss at home versus Michigan back on February 17. Iowa has been scoring well in spite of a few losses lately; they’ve hit 71 or more points in 10 straight games.

As for Michigan, they’ve got some nice performances mixed with a few duds here and there lately. We’ve seen glimpses of what the Wolverines can do, but they haven’t been all that consistent. I like Iowa to post a strong game here and pull off a revenge cover on the road. Should be a great matchup.
