The Detroit Titans and the Northern Kentucky Norse meet Thursday in Horizon League Tournament college basketball action from BB&T Arena. Detroit is an even 14-14 on the year so far. The Titans beat Green Bay in their last game. As for Northern Kentucky, they’re 18-11 and coming off a win versus Youngstown State. Detroit started off the season at an ugly 0-6, but they’ve only lost consecutive games twice since then. The Titans are 4-1 in their last five games. The wins in that time have been over Northern Kentucky, Wright State, Cleveland State and Green Bay.

On Tuesday versus Green Bay, the Titans took a 43-31 lead in the first half. Detroit kept it up with a 36-31 run from there during a 79-62 victory. Antoine Davis was tops on the team in scoring with 38 points and five rebounds in the win.

Over on the Northern Kentucky side, they struggled in the early season as well, limping to a 6-9 record. The Norse have only lost two games since January 15 though, and they’ve beaten Oakland, Robert Morris and Youngstown State in their last trio of outings.

On Saturday in the Youngstown State matchup, the Norse hit 43 points in the first half. Northern Kentucky managed a 32-26 run in the second half for a 75-61 win. Marques Warrick was the top team scorer on 22 points with three rebounds.

The Norse are 6-1 ATS in their last seven at home and 13-3 ATS in their last 16 overall. The over is 4-1 in Northern Kentucky’s last five at home.
Meanwhile, the Titans are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and the under is 11-2 in their last 13 road games. The under is 5-1 in Detroit’s last six Thursday games.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Northern Kentucky here. The Norse are looking pretty good over this 6-1 stretch. They’ve hit 71 or more points in each of their wins along the way. Thing is, Northern Kentucky has lost both games to Detroit this year: 74-68 on February 5 and 60-52 on February 18. The Norse are the better team, but they’re really going to need to step up and assert themselves here. Should be interesting, but I think they’ll be okay on a revenge cover.
