The Marist Red Foxes and the Canisius Golden Griffins meet in college basketball MAAC-tion from the Koessler Athletic Center on Thursday night.

The Marist Red Foxes will look to build on their current six-game win streak after a 74-56 win over Manhattan last time out. Jao Ituka leads the Red Foxes in scoring with 15.2 PPG while Ricardo Wright is right behind with 14 PPG and 4 RPG to cap off the pair of double-digit scorers for Marist so far this season. Samkelo Cele has 9.1 PPG and Raheim Sullivan also has 8.2 PPG for Marist on the year. Matt Herasme also has a team-high 4.9 RPG for the Red Foxes as well this season. As a team, Marist is averaging 70.1 PPG on 44.4% shooting from the field, 35.6% from three and 71.8% from the foul line while allowing 66.9 PPG on 40.8% shooting from the field and 32.4% from three this season.

The Canisius Golden Griffins will try to build on a 72-67 win over Quinnipiac last time out. Armon Harried leads the Golden Griffins in scoring with 11.6 PPG along with 4.4 RPG while Malek Green has 10.7 PPG with 4.7 RPG and Jordan Henderson has 11.4 PPG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for Canisius up to this point in the season. Ahamadou Fofana has a team-high 3.3 APG and Jacco Fritz has a team-high 5.5 RPG as well this season. As a team, Canisius is averaging 68.9 PPG on 40.2% shooting from the field, 31% from three and 69.7% from the foul line while allowing 71.9 PPG on 46% shooting from the field and 30.1% from three this season.

Marist is 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games as a favorite and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS win while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record. Canisius is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 home games.

I get the allure of a home underdog in certain spots, but we’re only being asked to give up a bucket with Marist who are catching fire at the right time with the MAAC tournament just around the corner. I think this is a spot where we just back the hotter team and lay the points with Marist here.
