The Virginia Cavaliers and the Louisville Cardinals meet Saturday in college basketball action from KFC Yum! Center. Virginia is 17-12 on the season right now and coming off a loss to Florida State. As for Louisville, they’re 12-17 and lost to Virginia Tech in their last game. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Virginia went 16-9 in their first 25 games this year. The Cavs had a few spotty stretches but didn’t lose consecutive games. Virginia has gone just 1-3 in their last four however, losing to Virginia Tech, Duke and Florida State in that stretch.

On Saturday versus Florida State, the Cavaliers took a 34-29 lead into halftime. Virginia was outscored 29-35 in the second and lost a tough one 64-63. Jayden Gardner was the top scorer on his 21 points and six boards.

Over on the Louisville side, they were sitting at 10-4 back in early January but have only won two games since then. The Cardinals are currently on a three-game losing streak, falling to North Carolina, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech in that trio.

Matched up against Virginia Tech on Tuesday, the Cardinals were down by 12 points going into the second half. Louisville managed just 22 points from there in a 75-43 blowout loss. Sydney Curry was the lead team scorer on 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Louisville is 1-7 ATS in their last eight Saturday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five at home. The Cardinals are 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 overall.
Meanwhile, the Cavs are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight Saturday games and 7-0 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss. Virginia is 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight overall.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Virginia here. The Cavaliers have had a couple of tough losses in their last pair, but those games were only decided by a combined five points. Virginia has generally stayed competitive otherwise, even though they routinely finish below the 70-point mark. The last time these teams saw each other, Virginia secured a 64-52 win at home. The road setting will make this rematch more of a challenge, but I think the Cavaliers are up to the task.
