The TCU Horned Frogs and the West Virginia Mountaineers meet Saturday in college basketball action from WVU Coliseum. TCU is coming off a Thursday matchup versus Kansas. In that game, the Frogs lost by just four points. As for West Virginia, they’re sitting at 14-16 and lost to Oklahoma in their last game. TCU went into February with a solid 15-4 record overall. The Frogs would falter from there however, going just 4-5 over their next nine games. TCU managed wins over Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Texas Tech and Kansas in that time.

In the Thursday rematch versus Kansas, TCU was tied up at 35 going into halftime. The Frogs were outscored 33-37 in the second half for a disappointing 72-68 loss. Emanuel Miller was the top team scorer with 18 points and six rebounds.

Over on the West Virginia side, they went a nice 13-2 over their first 15 games this year. The Mountaineers have only won one game since January 11, though. They’ve fallen to TCU, Iowa State, Texas and Oklahoma in the last quartet.

On Tuesday versus the Sooners, the Mountaineers trailed by four points at the break. West Virginia hit a 35-44 deficit in the second and limped to a 72-59 loss. Malik Curry was tops on the team with 17 points and six rebounds.

The Mountaineers are 16-35-1 ATS in their last 52 Saturday games and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 overall. West Virginia is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Frogs are 16-5-1 ATS in their last 22 road games and 4-0 ATS in their last four after an ATS win. TCU is 16-5-3 ATS in their last 24 overall.

PICK: I’m going to stick with TCU here. The Frogs stood tall in the Kansas game despite the loss, shooting a nice 47.4 percent from the field with 90.9 percent (10-of-11) from the line and 33 rebounds. TCU has hit 68 or more points in four of the last five games, going 3-2 in that time.

The last time these teams met up back on February 21, TCU secured a 77-67 home victory. West Virginia has hit a few good scoring outings recently, but I don’t think they’ve got the gas to keep the pace if the Frogs get going.
