Gonzaga vs San Francisco 3/7/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The San Francisco Dons and the Gonzaga Bulldogs meet Monday in West Coast Tournament college basketball action from Orleans Arena. San Francisco is 24-8 so far this year. San Francisco had one choppy 1-3 outing back in January, but outside of that they’ve been a very consistent team this year. The Dons are 3-1 in their last four games; they’ve beaten Pacific, San Diego and BYU in that time. 

In the BYU game on Saturday, the Dons held a slim three-point lead at halftime. San Francisco hit a 48-39 run the rest of the way in a 75-63 victory. Tops in scoring was Khalil Shabazz with 22 points, four rebounds and two assists. 

Over on the Gonzaga side, they had losses to Duke and Alabama in their first nine games. The team would then hit a 17-game win streak from December 9 to February 24. Gonzaga lost their last game to Saint Mary’s, however. 

Matched up against Saint Mary’s on Saturday, the Bulldogs were outscored 36-21 in the first half. Gonzaga hit a 36-31 run in the second but it wasn’t enough in a 67-57 loss. Leading scorer Rasir Bolton put up 16 points with three rebounds in the defeat. 

The Bulldogs are 13-6 ATS in their last 19 neutral-site games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five overall. The under is 6-1 in Gonzaga’s last seven overall. 

Meanwhile, the Dons are 1-5 ATS in their last six neutral-site games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall. San Francisco is 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine Monday games. 

PICK: I’m going to stay with Gonzaga here. The Bulldogs had a bad first half in their last outing versus Saint Mary’s and dug themselves a hole that was too deep to climb out of. The 57 points was Gonzaga’s lowest total of the year and a snapshot of the team near the bottom of their capabilities. 

That said, Gonzaga has won the matchups between these teams 78-62 and 89-73 this year. The Bulldogs will need to shake off the Saint Mary’s loss and get back to their high-flying style; I think they’ll be able to pull that off in a cover here.
