The UC-Davis Aggies and the Cal Poly Mustangs meet in college basketball action from the Dollar Loan Center on Tuesday night.

The UC-Davis Aggies enter the conference tournament as the #7 seed, finishing the year 12-10 including 5-6 in conference play. Ezra Manjon leads the Aggies in scoring and assists with 15.4 PPG and 3.3 APG while Elijah Pepper has 15.3 PPG with 5 RPG and Caleb Fuller has 11.9 PPG with 5.4 RPG this season. Christian Anigwe has 10.1 PPG with a team-high 5.8 RPG to lead the Aggies on the glass and to round out the group of double-digit scorers for UC-Davis this season. As a team, UC-Davis is averaging 68.6 PPG on 44.8% shooting from the field, 34.1% from three and 70.1% from the foul line while allowing 66.7 PPG on 41.4% shooting from the field and 33.8% from three this season.

The Cal Poly Mustangs enter the tournament in last as the #10 seed, finishing the year 7-20 including a 2-12 mark in conference play. Alimamy Koroma leads the Mustangs in scoring with 13.7 PPG along with 5.6 RPG while Jacob Davison has 11.9 PPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Cal Poly so far this season. Trevon Taylor has 5.5 RPG and Camren Pierce has 4.1 APG as well for the Mustangs so far this season. As a team, Cal Poly is averaging 61.8 PPG on 40.9% shooting from the field, 29.3% from three and 73% from the foul line while allowing 67.5 PPG on 41.5% shooting from the field and 36.1% from three this season.

UC-Davis 1-9-1 ATS in their last 11 neutral site games as a favorite while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games following a loss. Cal Poly is 5-12 ATS in their last 17 neutral site games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 Tuesday games.

I get the allure of points with a team like Cal Poly in a tournament setting as anything can really happen in these early round games. However, the Mustangs are seriously inept offensively and I wonder every time I watch this team, if they’re going to get out of the 50s and past 60 points, and it’s a valid question. UC-Davis hasn’t been a world-beater either, but they’re the better team and more consistent team especially offensively. Give me the Aggies here.
