The 14-seed Georgia Bulldogs & 11-seed Vanderbilt Commodores will square off at Amalie Arena this Wednesday night in the 1st round of the SEC Championship.

The Georgia Bulldogs finished their regular season with an overall record of 6-25 and earned the 14-seed in the SEC Championship after finishing conference play with a 1-17 record. Georgia went 5-8 in their non-conference portion of their schedule with their best win coming against the Memphis Tigers. Georgia picked a great win at home against Alabama, however, it was the Bulldogs only win in SEC play and come into the SEC Tournament on an 11-game losing streak.

On the season, Georgia is averaging 70.4 ppg on 44.6% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs are averaging 6.5 three-pointers per game on 32.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Georgia has been led by Kario Oquendo (15.4 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.2 spg), Braelen Bridges (12.8 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.9 apg), Aaron Cook (10.6 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 5.4 apg, 1.3 spg), & Noah Baumann (8.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 1.0 apg).

Defensively, Georgia is allowing their opponents to average 78.3 ppg on 47.3% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs have a rebound margin of -1.9 and a turnover margin of -3.4.

The Vanderbilt Commodores finished their regular season with an overall record of 15-15 and earned the 11-seed in the SEC Championship after finishing conference play with a 7-11 record. Vanderbilt finished their non-conference portion of their schedule with an 8-4 record with their top wins coming against Texas State, Pittsburgh, & BYU. Vanderbilt had trouble stringing wins together in conference play, however, did pick up some impressive wins over Arkansas & LSU.

On the season, Vanderbilt is averaging 69.5 ppg on 42.3% shooting from the field. The Commodores are averaging 8.3 three-pointers per game on 33.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Vanderbilt has been led by Scotty Pippen Jr. (20.5 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 4.2 apg, 2.0 spg), Jordan Wright (11.7 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.5 spg), Myles Stute (8.1 ppg, 3.5 rpg), & Quentin Millora-Brown (5.5 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.1 bpg).

Defensively, Vanderbilt is allowing their opponents to average 67.5 ppg on 42.5% shooting from the field. The Commodores have a rebound margin of -0.9 and a turnover margin of 0.9.

The Bulldogs are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss & 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Commodores are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up win & 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall.

Vanderbilt was able to defeat Georgia in both of their regular season matchups as the Commodores defeated the Bulldogs by a 73-66 margin on the road in mid-January while winning by an 85-77 margin at home in late January.

Georgia has been led by their offense this season that ranks 109th in assists per game & 141st in FG%, however, the defense has really struggled this season as the Bulldogs rank just t-336th in scoring defense & 337th in defensive FG%. Vanderbilt has struggled a bit on the offensive end, however, the defense has been decent as the Commodores come into this game ranked 128th in scoring defense, 135th in defensive FG%, & 78th in steals per game. Georgia went 0-12 in road/neutral site games and as I liked what I’ve seen from Vanderbilt down the stretch, which included wins against Texas A&M & Ole Miss, I think Vanderbilt does enough to win this one by double-digits and cover this spread. Good Luck!
